Right on the shore, great views over the indian ocean from the pool, or from the breakfast room (at the time of my booking all seaview rooms were already taken). Free parking within the yard. Breakfast is not included, but it worth the extra, expcially the wonderfull views from the breakfast room in the morning. Nice inerior design in the lobby. Mahebourg town center, market, waterfront all within about 10 mins walking. Close to the main road, but quite and calm!

The hosts were amazing. They moved me to a nicer room after the first day without asking. The first room was also good but bathroom was outside. The en-suite room was spacious with its own balcony. The hosts were super welcoming, replied very swiftly to all my questions and gave me soo many suggestions for things to do and places to eat.

I relocated here for a day to stay closer to the airport, having come from Bel Ombre—a remarkably scenic area that is a must-visit for travellers. However, Bel Ombre has very few restaurants, most of which are expensive and widely scattered, making it challenging without private transport. Without a car, our experience was quite difficult—until we finally rented one. In contrast, Mahébourg is far more tourist-friendly, offering numerous dining options and a pleasant seaside setting all within walking distance. Surprisingly, the overall costs were considerably cheaper than Bel Ombre

Mahebourg is a vibrant transport hub.

Mahebourg is a vibrant transport hub. The people are friendly and eager to assist in finding places and any needed information. The market is a must visit. I ate at the market food stalls and at Bo'Valon Mall.

The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than...

The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.

Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront.

Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront. I prefer the modern part of the city versus the downtown area which has narrower streets. Historical Mahébourg Museum is worth visiting. Don’t forget the delicious Biscuits Manioc!

A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South.

A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South. We only spent one day there, basically to shorten the trip to the airport the next morning, but we discovered several little gems. My one complaint - it could do with some live sega music. We will definitely spend a few more days there on our next trip.

The city is not beautiful.

The city is not beautiful. It is good for accomodation and making trips from the base. There is no nice bar where to go for a drink during evening. There are some good restaurants and nice market. I would recommend to stay in Blue Bay if you can find affordable accomodation there.

A comfortable one bedroom apartment with good size bedroom, bathroom and living/dining room with balcony. Located in a quiet suburban street About 25 minutes walk to central Mahébourg plus a local bus to Blue Bay / Mahebourg runs along main road near London supermarket - 5 minute walk away. Nice covered pool but didn’t get to use as a little cool.

Great location in the centre of Mahebourg opposite the local market with shops/ restaurants within 2 minute walk. Very large comfortable room with lots of light. Large share kitchen with continental breakfast ingredients available to make your own. Plus large share lounge/ TV area. Welcoming and helpful host.

Nice place to stay if you need something close to the airport. Do not trust Google Maps to navigate there: It directs you into the gated community next door, but this is wrong. The path to the hotel can be directly accessed from the street, there is also a sign. And a reasonable breakfast.
