Ciudad Valles is a good home base if you want to travel to...
Ciudad Valles is a good home base if you want to travel to the surrounding waterfall of Tamul. There is everything you would expect to find in a bigger city such as restaurants, bars, hospitals, etc. Many people stay here when traveling around to see the different waterfalls in the Huasteca region. I would recommend staying closer to whichever place you will be in, since it can be about 1-3 hour drive from Ciudad Valles to each different area; however.. some of these other areas are smaller towns and don’t have the things I mentioned previously. My favorite spot to stay in is Hostel Casa Huasteca, favorite place to eat is El Wacal, which is right around the corner from the hostel. There is a possibility for parking behind a closed gate. Rooms are clean and large with a big comfy bed. We had a warm welcome with good explanation about visiting the waterfalls.
