GUANAJUATO is a beautiful city and engineering marvel. The previous residents carved tunnels under the city as they mined precious metals. Now these tunnels are used for auto and pedestrian traffic. The city is divided on the old section which is in a bowl of two mountains and the new section which is outside the bowl. We stayed in the main road besides the mercado. It is very busy and noisy most of the day. I would recommend hotels close to the theater (Teatro).

Guanajuato is a beautiful city full of history.
Guanajuato is a beautiful city full of history. I recommend visiting the Bocamina San Ramon, the Pipila monument, the Jardin de la Union, the Mercado Hidalgo, and the Callejon del Beso, among others. Be sure to try "enchiladas mineras".

Very nice city, amazing panorama views and lots of culture. In my opinion a day trip is enough especially if you planned a road trip so maybe sleeping in another city would've been better for us. But definitely, highly recommend stopping by there and having a look it is magical!

Beautiful city and the people were all so nice and helpful. It was very clean. We went to places we had been before. Had a nice meal at the San Diego hotel on the balcony and another at an Italian Restaurant on the far end of the main plaza. We got around by cab and it was easy. We liked the San Fernando plaza and the little stone bar called Cafe Azul and especially the Cervantez museum.

Guanajuato is a must see city in the Colonial area of Mexico. Plenty of steep little alleys to get lost in. The museums are very interesting and it is the seat of the 1810 Mexican Revolution. Looking forward to returning.

Excellent location right in the center of Guanajuato. You are in walking distance to every tourist attraction. Very clean. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. Bathroom was nice. No a/c. But it didn’t bother us. The breakfast was included and you walk a block to their partner hotel (Hotel Don Lucas) The food is absolutely wonderful!! Chilaquiles, eggs, beans, pancakes, fruit, bread, yogurt, cereal and more!!! The staff was very friendly and respectful. We booked the city tour with them and it was very good.
