La Pazis a low-rise city with the cathedral and a few hotels poking their heads up.
It is definitely not Cabo, and that’s the way the locals like it and why we liked it. Mexico in general isn’t the bargain it used to be—where is?—but as Canadians it compared with prices at home.
We visited El Coromuel beach twice. Balandra post Covid has rules governing the number of people and Tecolote is a challenge to get to if like us you don’t have a car. But Ubers are real cheap.
A shout out to Allende Books, an English language bookstore where the attentive Sylvie is happy to chat. We even played and sang with a group of geezer guitarists who meet every Saturday at 1pm. Very welcoming group 😄
The fact that it’s difficult to get to with no Canadian airlines flying in meant we had to absorb the extra expense of hiring a car and driver from Day Trip. But it was worth it to have met Jose who could not have been more courteous and informative. Through him we were so fortunate to attend an amazing choir concert in the cathedral. Never to be forgotten.
Despite the challenge of getting there, we loved the place and the people. We are already planning to return, this time for a bit longer.

Stayed in L.P. in February during the Carnival: lots of people, entertainment/music and all types of food sold along the length of Malecon every evening. Felt very safe anywhere I went.
Daily excursions to Balandra/El Tecolote and hiking the surrounding hills were a highlight.
Temperatures in mid 20s C; water in the ocean pleasant enough to enjoy a swim.

Vibrant seaside city in Baja Sur - with a low key atmosphere and a multitude of options for dining, entertainment and outdoor activities. A complete respite from Cabo and a much more authentic taste of Mexico. The waterfront malecon is the focus of the community and offers exceptional views (and sunsets) while the city and old town offer much to explore.
Beautiful beaches and numerous watersports to take advantage of in the immediate area. A great base for world class snorkeling/diving, wildlife (whales, whale sharks, sea lions) and adventure (hiking, sand boarding, ATV's, etc.)

La Paz was a really pleasant surprise.
La Paz was a really pleasant surprise. I hadn't done too much research before our travels, but found everything about the city to be simply delightful. The Malecon is amazing, and there seems to be some really interesting food, drink, art, music and culture for everyone - not just tourists. We really loved the energy of the whole town - with beautiful pristine beaches and amazing desert landscapes just a few minutes (by car!) away. We can't wait to come back.

I travels in May when the days are pretty hot, but the mornings and evenings are cool. People come out to exercise on the Malecon in the earlier mornings and families are out in the evenings enjoying the sea breeze.

We spent 5 nights in La Paz and 4 nights in San Jose del Cabo but we were sad to leave La Paz and thought we should have stayed longer there. We found it is a very peaceful city, with a cute city center, colorful houses, people are pretty welcoming and it is easy to chat with them, there are also many good restaurants with still correct prices, and wonderful beaches not too far. It is recommended to rent a car to move around. Next trip we will probably just stay in La Paz as it has everything we are looking for.
We loved our stay! Everyone was so friendly. The checkin staff was able to accommodate an early checkin which was very appreciated. Hector the bartender on the rooftop made the most amazing drink of my life, passion fruit margarita. The location is perfect , it’s right next to the Catedral and the town square park. There are lots of delicious restaurants, bars and coffee shops nearby that you can walk to. We absolutely loved La Paz and staying in this hotel! Just book it you won’t regret it! We can’t wait to return!
Beautiful facility and room, unique layout. Spectacular and friendly daily cleaning. Prompt response to digital concierge messages. Best location in all of LaPaz. Luxury entrance for boutique hotel. Located right in the center of malacon boardwalk with food and shops all around. Beautiful balcony looking over the ocean, the boardwalk. And the people. View of la paz colorful sign from balcony. 2-5 minute walk will get you to most excursions on the water. I miss mornings on beautiful balcony.
The location of Marea La Paz is well off the beaten path, but so worth it. It's out of the hustle of La Paz proper and within walking distance to an excellent local restaurant that we enjoyed several times.
The grounds are lovely. Artistic, inviting, very well-maintained and welcoming. The breakfast was amazing; the selections were wonderful and all of the staff were friendly and very professional. We thought the value was very good for such a lovely little gem of a hotel.
Such a beautiful and peaceful hotel. So close to the beaches I wanted to visit everyday and a short walk on the malecón to many restaurants. The staff are super kind and helpful and I had no issues with my room. The cafe next to the hotel is great and they do nice breakfasts and meals as well as baked goods and coffee, I stopped by almost everyday. I had a great stay at el Moro and highly recommend if you're looking for a simple and quiet stay in La Paz.
It was perfect spot for a family with 4 and 8 year old kids. I wanted to do scuba diving and while kids are playing at the beach right front our room (only 3 min of walk) I had a great time diving, I saw sea lion ! The crew was nice too!
There are playground next to the hotel as well! The best part was of course the sunset view. I will definitely come back again!
The owners of the apartment are one of the kindest people I have met in Mexico! They were very nice and helping, they gave us many recommendations for things to do in La Paz or around Baja California Sur. The apartment is bigger than it looks on pictures and was very clean! I would definitively come back if I stay in La Paz again :)
The pool area is gorgeous and quite hip, definitely the best part of this hotel, and since most people do the day trips we had the area just for ourselves. The rooms were very clean and the bed comfortable. The location is great, you can walk to the city center on the malecon or take a ~40 pesos uber to the city center.
Beautiful architecture and facilities. Very clean. Good air conditioning. Pretty good restaurants. Excellent location and phenomenal above-and-beyond service. Mateo at the front desk is probably the best hotel employee I’ve ever dealt with.
Small boutique hotel, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy and the room is clean and pretty in marine style decorated. Breakfast is not included in the price but there is a small cafe right next door
This B&B is Amazing. Carla and Bill are very friendly People and we feel us as a part of the Family.
The breakfest which Bill every Morning prepared is the best in the world.
And Always a good idea what you can do in La Paz.
It was the second time we stayed at this hotel so we knew we liked it. The location is ideal, parking is good, the pool with bar is excellent, and the free breakfast is top-notch. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
Great place family managed who were really kind and helpful with all type of recomendations in La Paz. Really comfortable, spacious and well equipped bedroom. Home-made delicious breakfast everyday.
Location is beautifully and beachfront, restaurant in hotel is convenient and the beds are comfortable. Love snorkeling on this beach. Good staff. Sweet old hotel.
Location was very close to the waterfront. Able to Walk to cafes, restaurants. Malecon, marina. Neigh bourhood is a little rough (as is much of la Paz)
