Originally the lands that saw the crossing of the Cucapah, Cochimi, Kumeyaay, Pai Pai, Kiliwas and others accross the Californias without border. Mexicali has thrived culturally and its people are warm, kind and generous. Despite road infrastructure can be a challenge, it is an active place, unique cuisine that has integrated Chinese gastronomy. Their imput due to migrating waves from the 1800s has made a mark on the landscape of Mexicali. Healthy food and lifestyle continue to elevate Mexicali 'a must' destination holiday. Its Majestic Rumorosa with capricious rock formations makes this place memorable. All around there is something for you, whether you are vegetarian or carnivorous, carne asada is just delicious and la ruta del vino, only 1.20 min away offers a unique experience. We were on our way home so we didn't really plan for time in Mexicali. The hotel was very good and safe. We used the google maps app to get to the border. Do not follow this app. It took us to the sentri lane which we had to turn around in. Sentri is for those with special passes. I went to search them and let them know I took them. aha and they never replaced it. Just two sizes in the bathroom, hair rinse was born. I think next time we will opt for Fiesta Inn. Was worried about my personal safety and the safety of my vehicle and it's contents. These worries proved to be a non issue as the hotel was first class and it's location was excellent in that it is surrounded by new upscale restaurants and other well known hotels. The breakfast was outstanding in that there were several dishes to choose from, all very tasty. The staff were bilingual and very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel. It worked perfectly for me in that I was able to get up early the next morning well rested and cross the border into the US without the long wait.Guest review byKevin
