This is the third time we have stayed at this property. This is a nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood convenient to public transportation. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good. We especially liked the complimentary espresso machine in the lobby and the attentive 24 hour front desk. A good choice for arriving in the middle of the night and getting a good night's sleep. For those with fragrance sensitivities, this hotel does NOT have strong scents in the air or on the bedding, which can be challenging to find in Mexico City. Escandon is a nice neighborhood to stay in. There is a pharmacy, a bakery, a small grocery store, several shops, restaurants, and a large market in the immediate block around the hotel.

As soon as you arrive to the hotel you are greeted by the bellman, who are dressed in an antique uniform. Wonderfull staff, accurate information with our rooms and reservations. They inmediately invite you to the lounge that has an Amazing view of the Zocalo. The main focus is the architecture of the hotel, that beautiful vitral is the main character of the space. FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Extremely clean everywhere, including all the public toilet facilities. For a European the cost of living is very low. Easy to get around. I walked or got an Uber but I was told that the public transport is good and again, cheap. I always felt safe, but I obviously avoided any dodgy areas, especially at night, as one would in any big city. The traffic is dreadful, so as it is so big, you have to factor in the time it takes to get from place to place. Great museums which are either free or about £4/5. People are lovely, very gentle and helpful. I booked a day trip to Teotihuacan which was excellent. Loads of restaurants and food outlets. I loved Los Azulejos, near Bellas Artes. The Chapultepec Park is beautiful for a relaxing walk.

I've been to CDMX many times and stayed in different areas. I stayed in Reforma because the Mexican Senior Living Summit was held at a large hotel on the Reforma. I liked that I could easily walk to Roma Norte and Condessa where I enjoyed discovering cafes and restaurants. I revisited the museum at Chapultapec which I recommend if you are interested in the history of Mexico. It's also quite pleasant to walk in parts of Chapultapec park, it's huge!!

So much to do in Mexico City and the best food in Mexico. It flooded while we were there, but you Mother Nature does what she does. Traffic sucks, but that is true in every big city. Try not to be moving around during commute time. Uber is great here.

LOTS TO SEE !! Mexico City has amazing sights for tourists to see. Fantastic culture & history. The Anthropology Museum was FANTASTIC ! Our tour of the pyramids was very educative and mind bogling. The historic area with the palace and the incredible monuments around it including the old postal office etc were wonderful to see. We have stayed at the Historico Central several times during our visits to Mexico City. It is a wonderful boutique hotel. Excellent service, professional staff, highly attentive to client needs. Impeccably clean. Hotel provides free of charge free water bottles, apples on every floor, plus free cafe access (paninis, soup, breakfast rolls, coffee), included in the hotel price is a delicious complete Mexican breakfast. Centrally located to excellent museums, historical sites, and great restaurants.

The best thing about this Hotel was the location. I was in a great area and close to lots of bars, restaurants and coffee shops etc. The pool area on the rooftop was nice, great place to chill out, however the pool was ridiculously shallow. The gym, although very basic, did provide what I needed for my time in Mexico city.
