Salina Cruz is a very peaceful place offering some beaches where surfing can be performed. It was a tiny seaport that grew up due to the oil refinery, not really recommended as a tourist destination by itself since there are limited facilities, with lot of eateries but very few good restaurants, one of them being Santa Julia inside the Misión de San José Hotel. Many secondary streets are in need of maintenance or not paved, although main avenues are in more or less good condition. Rooms and lobby are a bit dated, the pool area and the upper floor have obviously recently been renovated and are much nicer/comfortable. Price-Value-Ratio could be good but the service by the owner (via messages in Booking.com) and the receptionist was very bad and unfriendly. Theo (the kitchen staff) was super nice and really lovely. Owner and receptionis tried to blame Theo for the structural comunication problems the hotel has (for example: reception staff was only available from 9:30 am to the afternoon).Guest review byManuelGermany

The rooms were in very good shape and very well sound proofed against noises from outside, so we didn't hear anything of the busy street (noises from the other rooms though were audible, but he had good neighbours). This was probably the quietest night that we had in Mexico in so far.
