Very beautiful town, great food and nice people. We found when staying at hotels here that for nearly the same price we could get a much better room and location with locals that will drive you up to a hotels available and make last minute changes if needed. Booking.com put us in what seemed the poorest, loudest locations of the hotels we booked - the bottom floors right on the streets and we were stuck in them if unsatisfactory because the booking company could not help us once arrived. Traffic and night life is loud in Mexico. Sometimes the front desk would be able to upgrade us but not always.

The #1 reason to book this hotel is the staff and the exceptional customer service. The rooms were okay, and we enjoyed the street view from our large window-tiny balcony. I thought the beds were a little hard, but nice pillows. No in-room coffee. Shower was dated but water was hot and plentiful. The location was steps from the main plaza with lots to see and do. The restaurants we visited were WONDERFUL and recommended by Luis. Luis even arranged a car and driver to Guanajuanto, a must see in Mexico.

The location was great, the hotel itself was not anything special. The staff knew the wifi was not working yet insisted nothing was wrong. Next time I come to San Juan de los Lagos, I would find different accommodation.
