Restaurants are close by but be aware most of them are closing at 7pm. Close to the Hotel is also a laundry. The lady charged 12 pesos per kilo and you get your clothes clean and folded after 2hours back...that was awesome.

An overnight stay near the pyramids so we could see them early the next day so didn't stay in town. The complex is much bigger than we expected and definitely worth a visit. Go early to avoid the bus tours.
The ancient site of Teotihuacan is amazing and it was exhilarating to walk to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun! We arrived in San Juan Teotihuacan about 1:00 and by the time we were settled in the hotel it was an hour later. But we decided to go to the archeological site anyway and pay the $70 MXN admission fee (each) - just so we could walk around and get our bearings. And that was enough for the first day. The next day we went early in the morning and walked to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun before the crowds arrived. We had read that it was a good time to do this as the tour buses start to arrive about 10 AM. And later in the day we did notice that there were a lot of people on top of the pyramid so it may have been a bit crowded up there. After going thru the museum - which is a must see! - we went out the gate behind the museum and went to the La Gruta restaurant for a late lunch. There are no restaurants in the site. La Gruta (the grotto) is a restaurant in a large cave so quite unique and good food. Its not a café but more of a high-end restaurant and was our most expensive restaurant meal in Mexico - although still only about $75 CAD for 3 people - but really worth the experience. We walked around San Juan Teotihuacan a bit but never found the centre of town or encountered any restaurants. I would not call it a charming town but its worth it just to see the archeological site.
Teotihuacan is basically a giant tourist trap that plays off the fact that they happen to have an archeological site with a history and pyramids. Everything is pretty much geared towards the tour groups or visitors who go out for a day trip. There are a couple of "restaurant rows" with the shills waving menus trying to get you to try try their restaurant. And hundreds of souvenirs stalls selling basic overpriced junk.
La Catrina serves great food with an amazing and hospitable staff! San Juan transportation is fairly easy, but the drivers are questionable in terms of patience and honesty. Access to the pyramids is fairly easy and the best reason to visit this town!
Nice little town. Busy and noisy, like many towns. Has banks, hotels, restaurants, etc. One nice thing was the bike paths that were being put in between the town and the Pyramids. Could be a great outing. Also, a great find was an Italian Restaurant - Las Bandaras on the road into Gate 2. Doesn't look like much, but the food was EXCELLENT! Daniel, an Argentinian Italian runs the place with his family. Daniel was a great host. Everything on the menu was good, but the carbonara was the best I've ever had -- and it was only 90 pecos with great salad and bread.
The ruins are fantastic, but the explanations not always complete, and leaves one with tons of questions. There is way too much to do and see within the park to do it all in one day. Additionally, there are some amazing ruins and murals right around the park, that one hardly hears about. Those murals/ wall paintings were the best I saw, however the explanations were weak, or appeared down-right wrong. Within the park there is no place to buy water, or a snack, and no centrally located restroom facilities. I would highly recommend going with a personal tour guide, unless you don't mind reading a lot of text. But, where to find such a tour guide is another challenge unto itself. INAH (The National Archeological and Historical Institute) should be doing much more to make the place and information on the culture and its work more accessible to tourists.

I booked a taxi from the airport with them and they were there to pick me up and drive me to the hotel, when we got there it was getting late in the evening and they fixed me dinner there and had some nice cold beer. Great place had to use a translator service as they spoke no English and I spoke no Spanish very friendly place would use again if in the area

Lovely peaceful small hotel, close (within 15-20 min walking distance) to the Teotihuacan Pyramids. Polite and hospitable staff with basic English but very helpful and caring on the customer, rich and tasty breakfast. I would definitely recommend it as a base to explore the Teotihuacán area.

A well organized hotel with some decent rooms. We booked the bigger one for my wife and I, it was quite nice to get a small living room and a terrace although it gave on the road. The bathroom was quite nice although we couldn't get the jets to work in the bathtub
