Located in San Miguel de Allende and with Church of St. Michael the Archangel reachable within a 9-minute walk, Hacienda Las Amantes has concierge services, allergy-free rooms, a bar, free WiFi... I absolutely loved everything about this place. Located in the heart of central SMA, but still far enough away for to enjoy the quiet. You do have to walk up a bit of a hill to return to the hotel from the centro, but its not bad if you're in good health (I actually walked 6-8 miles per day in this City, and loved every second of it). The views of the city are amazing from this little tucked away hidden oasis! The garden landscape feels magical, the rustic historic decor was spot on, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. I can't wait to come back! Walking distance to everything, great views, two rooftop decks, welcoming staff, thought out decor and ambiance, - everything was great. I also recommend El Correo for some good local food. It is a little restaurant really close by.

One of the most iconic small town in Mexico, full of history and colonial monuments and sites. Tons of high quality crafts for shopping or window shopping. Love the city and the atmosphere specially in the Cathedral area at night. Really safe place to go to. Will definitely go back next time I visit Mexico.
Beautiful town. I would not drive there again though or, would park my car at the edge of town and take a taxi to the center of town where the action is. The beautiful narrows cobblestoned streets were not designed for the intensity of modern streets.A great Mexican restaurant,Los Milagros. Make sure to review the soundproofing of the hotels where you are going to stay. The nights are warm and noisy...
Stunning historic city full of art, architecture and culture. Like nowhere else I've been! Food (and drink) was incredible, the people were diverse and friendly (lots of English spoken if your Spanish is rusty) and the weather was beautiful. As a woman traveling solo I felt safe, especially staying at Meson Hidalgo, a women-led guesthouse with luxury artists shops tucked away in the middle of everything. Feels like there is something to discover around every corner and every ancient door in this town! Will definitely be back for a longer stay (only had 4 nights here).
SMA remains a gem. I first visited it 52 years ago and have returned on a regular basis the past decade or so. I feel safe there and the local people continue to be most gracious and generous in sharing their remarkable community with outsiders. And the weather is great and there are many wonderful restaurants to explore. It can be a bit challenging to navigate while walking since the sidewalks, while in very good repair, tend to be a bit uneven. But even in my 80's I was able to get in my 2 miles of walking per day. And when one gets tired or lost there are always very inexpensive taxis available. The art scene remains active and there are lots of opportunities to enjoy music, theater, language class, duplicate bridge, and golf. Should one get sick or desire to save money on medical care, there are numerous doctors and dentists in residence with degrees from the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe.
Very European vibe. Excellent restaurants. Very clean compared to other cities I have visited in Mexico. A large Expat community. The weather is excellent. The Baroque architecture is worth the visit. The stone carving and Canterra stone work is magnificent. For security and safety, I advise against driving the road between Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende after dark, so plan accordingly. The city itself seems safer than most other Cities I have visited in Mexico and I felt safe and comfortable walking the historic core. Best to walk the city and it is hilly, so be in shape and expect some exercise.
Our trip was perfect!! Our Hotel Casa Luna Boutique was located perfectly near the center of town (Plaza Principal) with fabulous choices of restaurants, coffee houses and views! Our concierge was terrific and showed me the location for the most beautiful sunset! The breakfast was also top-notch. You can ask Alain for best things to do in the day and will call your tour company and taxi. Go To Fabrica Aurora, cactus garden and museums of Allende and toys!! Rosalind
so glad that we can live in La Catrina during the trip in San Miguel de Allende. The staff there was very kind, everything was good, the room, the location, the breakfast etc. one of my favorite part of La Catrina is the balcony that can see the view of the whole city, the scene at night was amazing. My friend and I love the design of bathroom as well!! we really want to take it home. In brief, we had a nice time there! Nos pasamos muy bien!
The hotel is very close to the main attractions yet far enough from the noise. The rooms are impeccably decorated with fine furnishings and elegant details. Breakfast is amazing with the best quality products and Mexican gourmet options. Views from the roof are breathtaking. Service was simply incredible. It’s among the best small boutique hotels we’ve ever stayed at.
Location, location, location! Steps away from the main plaza and close to shopping and restaurants. Bus system is good and is inexpensive at 7pesos vs 50-60pesos for a taxi. If your coming from the bus station take the any of the routes going to Centro and get off at Mesones and Relox street. Hotel is 2 blocks from there.
