Very different according to what day of the week you go.
Very different according to what day of the week you go.
At weekends and holidays it gets very busy indeed with nudists and gays, who can be very overt with flaunting themselves, plus partying through the night until 4am making a lot of noise.
The rest of the time it is a beautiful place with nice sea and restaurants along the beach and very nice people

Beach is beautiful.
Beach is beautiful. Water is good for swimming, however there were some occasions when there was sewage sludge in the water. Nudist beach which was interesting. Can be too much with exhibitionism especially at either end and can be very noisy late afternoon to 4am.

Zipolite is beautiful and interesting.
Zipolite is beautiful and interesting. My husband and I like to walk and/or swim a lot on our holidays. We were disappointed that we could not swim in the ocean and walking was risky on the narrow 2-lane highway running through town, particularly since there were few sidewalks. The grocery stores were reasonably priced and Roca Blanca was a delightful little oasis of small shops, artisans and restaurants.

This is an end of the road old hippy beach town with no corporate presence. No big hotels or chain anything. Frankly it is kind of a dump and has no history, not even a fishing village claim. The beach and ocean are beautiful, but the entire coastline here is not suitable for swimming or even dunking. Very hot and humid even during my stay in early Dec 2023. Lots of massage, yoga, and alternative lifestyle things going on here. Lots of restaurants, bars and coffee places. Easy to just walk around the village. Just outside the village and up the hill are some better hotels with pools but high prices also, 200usd. If you want typical resort life you will be happier in Puerto Escondido area.

Best beach in the area. Not a lot to do .
Best beach in the area. Not a lot to do . The food at a few restaurants are way above average. Two amazing ice cream shops. And two different bank machines for cash withdraws. Smoke is easy to find and casual.

Great romantic escape at Aquamista!
Great romantic escape at Aquamista! Just perfect for a special trip with a loved one. Definitely consider the Mazunte beaches next door as part of your stay and experience. Safer swimming, fun hipster/vibe town with good food and shops. Easy to get there from Zipolite by car/taxi or even a local boat operator/guide. Zioplite shops/strip less interesting and the beach culture there is a little edgy for more mature audiences lol.
it’s away from the “central” parts of Zipolite. a 10-15 min walk to the beginning of the beach. personally I liked to be away from the “hot spot”, but bare in mind that you either need to enjoy walking or have a moto to move around easily since you need two different collectivos to go towards Mazunte and Pochutla
I stayed in the tipi house, which basically only fits a very comfortable bed - so you’ll sleep good to the sound of the dogs and birds
the kitchen is big, and got sharp knifes but had a lot of flies and mosquitos
This property has stunning views. The rooms are exceptionally large. The rooms have air conditioning. The rooms are very well appointed. The property has a great swimming pool. The property has a full dining service, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves cocktails throughout the day. This property is also clothing optional. This is one of the few properties that has a boiler to generate hot water. We would definitely book this property again over the other gay and clothing optional hotel offerings.
Although our friends recommended staying in Mazunte, we decided to try Casa Sol given the great reviews, and it didn't disappoint. Was the nicest place we stayed at during our entire trip. Amazing bilingual staff that could help organize / book things. Tasty breakfast. Fantastic rooms / views / pools / wifi / hot water. A tiny beach is just in front, and they have snorkel gear, chairs, umbrellas, and towels to use. Zipolite beach is a nice 5-10 minute walk away. Would 100% go back.
Corinna is a most excellent host. Friendly and helpful with lots of local advice. She also wanted to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay at her hotel. She even arranged for our cab ride back to the airport. The location is really close to the beach and some excellent restaurants. The hotel has a wonderful, tropical charm to it. Our room had air conditioning which helped on warm nights, and there is a lovely little private patio with a hammock which we enjoyed.
The hotel was pretty good for its price. The room was somewhat small, but it had a great terrace which compensated for everything else. There was a small fridge, a coffee maker, a hammock and a couple of chairs with a table, so I had everything I needed. The hotel is a little bit far from the center of the village - like 1mile walk. The beach is less than half a mile away and the nearest grocery store was about a quarter mile away.
Posada Mexico is located on the best part of the Zipolite beach with lounge chairs and umbrella to while away the day. The restaurant offered breakfast & dinner although there are many other choices within minutes. The bungalows with netting are comfortable and cold showers welcome on the hot days. Would have loved to stay longer than 2 nights.
Andres was an excellent host, made all the difference for my stay in Zipolite -- telling me how to get to the best beaches in the area, introducing me to people, and to a good time. Even very, very generously made it up to me when there was a bit of a booking overlap. :) Stay at Casa Mixtli!
This was our second time staying at hotel Nude. They remodeled the rooms and added ac and hot water so that was a big plus! It has spacious rooms, 2 pools, restaurant, beach club with a dj until about 8 pm. The staff is really nice! We love this hotel and highly recommend it.
The resort is very beautiful and well-kept. A jungle type oceanfront destination. Seems to be a great getaway for same-sex couples and if you want to be nude on the beach! We found out that it is the ONLY LEGAL NUDE BEACH in Mexico. Otherwise a very romantic destination.
A gorgeous and spectacular setting amidst the mangrove trees. Close to the beach and access to the main strip of restaurants in Zipolite. The staff were incredible, helpful and friendly. Truly a wonderful place to stay during your time in Zipolite.
Definitely the best hotel I've ever seen.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Christina and Salvia are amazing. Wonderful views. Great breakfast. Extended facilities (have even mats for a beach and snorkeling packs).
Chill atmosphere, good staff, centrally located, sitting areas, on the beach, away from the more noisy hotels, gorgeous sunsets and sun rising, nice pools
