Kinarut is a stop on only railway in Borneo.
Kinarut is a stop on only railway in Borneo. We took the train at 7:45am southbound from Tanjung Aru station. Can also be reached easily via GRAB from BKI, KK's international airport: 15 - 20 minutes. Kinarut was the location for a refugee camp for Vietnamese boat people in the 1970s. After the Vietnamese were relocated to USA and elsewhere, local refugees [Philippines; Indonesia] filled the camp. Area has a reputation for poverty, but we did not witness the camp. Strip of beach has a number of resorts which offer a variety of price points and services - all quite affordable.Guest review byjamesUnited States
