Tucked away amidst a lush garden, jungle views and a river bend, this guesthouse is a serene getaway and a perfect home base for exploring Taman Negara. In addition to the idyllic setting, the stay includes a copious and delicious dinner and breakfast (including vegetarian options). Both meals are served in the outdoor common area by the river. 6 of the rooms have incredible garden views. The other 3 don’t have as nice a view.
Although you are 7 or so min from town, this is a great place to stay (specially if you have a car). If not, transport is also available.
D'pinggir Guest Room has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kuala Tahan.

Kuala Tahan is great for all those who want to experience the rainforest in real life but it is nothing for those who don't like to get sweaty or muddy or uncomfortable. It's a very small village you choices to eat are small but I would very much recommend the floating restaurant. They have very friendly staff and the food was great.
If you go to Kuala Tahan and want to see more of the rainforest and go outside of the main tourist trails I really really really recommend you make a guided tour. There are many possibilities where you want to book what you want to see and if you'd like a one, two or even three day track. We did a one day track which was a lot of fun, very beautiful and interesting but at the same time don't underestimate the trail the terrain is doable but can be very steep and demanding. Nevertheless the experience is totally worth it.
If you go to Malaysia I strongly recommend visiting Kuala Tahan.

The night hikes were back to back groups so with crowds and noise no chance of seeing animals. You definitely should bring your own torch as you can't see where you are stepping and there are some slippery spots. Personally wouldn't do again.
The canopy was nice albeit very narrow with only 4 allowed on it at a time. You are not allowed to stop or take photographs. Having to focus on my footing and not being able to stop and look makes it just going for a walk.
Going through the rapids and getting wet is accomplished by guide literally rocking boat.
The stop at village was the best part of trip. Fascinating how fire was started and the use of blow gun which we go to try.

Kuala Tahan is a nice little village with just a few shops and restaurants. But of course the main thing to do is to go to the national park. We choose to do a one day tour, which we really enjoyed. You cross the river and there is the entrance where you get your permit. They inform you about everything and everyone was very nice. I really recommend doing a tour because you learn a lot about nature and living in the rainforest. The canopy walk was also so beautiful! You can do some things on your own however, for most of the trails you need a guide to accompany you. There were some challenging parts about the hike. You need to be fit to hike up and down in the humid climate. But it was a very nice challenge and I would recommend it to everyone!
If you want to eat out I recommend the floating restaurants down by the river. The people are really friendly and welcoming and the food is good, for a fair price!

We stayed 3 nights and had 2 days to explore which was fine to do both some day and night walks in the jungle as well as a river trip to the small waterfall. Crossing the river to actually get to the jungle site is very easier. You just go down to one of the floating restaurants and ask them to take you across. Fees are fixed at 1 RMB per person. Your entrance permit is valid for all days so make sure to keep it with you at all times - also when doing river cruises.

Like the staff! All very nice and helpful.
Like the staff! All very nice and helpful. We also had laundry done for seven people and it came back in a day and was very clean and organized. You can book excursions right from the lodge. You can drink the water, so would have liked a large water container to fill up on our own. They left two small bottles a day, but that is not enough and we had to purchase water. Good selection at breakfast. Bathroom was always hot, as no windows, just open to the wild, so had to keep door closed at all times.

This is a relaxed, local family-run place & the family were really kind & helpful. It is a little outside the main village & Taman Negara National Park entrance but they would happily give us a lift in their pickup truck whenever needed. The room was fine, comfy beds, good AC & an OK shower, with a table & seating area outside in the shade. Breakfast was basic (eggs, toast etc or local Nasi Lemak rice & curry) but fine.
Just Wow!! What an amazing place. It is located right at the river to go to taman negara. The place is nice and clean. And the room has good AC. It is located in the near the rainforest, so it is more basic. But that makes the feeling even more better. Ann is an amazing person and can tell you exactly what you should and shouldn’t do in Taman Negara. Ann than you so much!!!
Tebing Guest House is definitely above the average accommodation you may find in Taman Negara. The place seems new and everything was neat and clean. Also the staff is friendly and recommend you nice tours. We took the night walk in the jungle with a very expert guide! There is also a nice garden around the structure.
