The host is just from another world. I arrived late (around 22h30) and even though he likes to wake up at 4h30, we kept talking for about half an hour. Then, he goes: "do you want me to show you around?" >> he went on giving me a guided kuching tour in his car. He even wanted to buy me a drink but no shops were open at midnight. Besides this, he would leave traditional sweets for breakfast every day. Legend!!

This is an authentic old school Kuching place, very laid back. The breakfast is great, they serve awesome coffee. What makes this place special is that Sam and his wife go out of their way to accommodate you. Sam even arranged a personal guide and driver arranged for a national park that was far away. Lots of inexpensive, good Chinese and Malaysian good in the area. Also a good spot to meet other backpackers, to split tours and friendship of course! I would definitely stay again!

We actually stayed in 4 different places in Kuching and this was our favorite. The location can't be beat - so convenient to great restaurants, the waterfront and the mall with supermarket. The area around the homestay was very clean and peaceful, with a calm village atmosphere that made our stay truly relaxing. The host was extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The house was comfortable, well-maintained, and had all the basic amenities we needed. Wi-Fi connection was stable, and there was ample parking space. The house is located on the other side of the river, which is in a relatively quiet area. Zak and his wife are both very friendly. The room and the kitchen are quite cozy.
