Great for a bit of 'old town' living with fresh air. Food was very nice in the food courts near Lake Gardens. Did a couple of chinese restaurants with excellent local varieties. The Lake Gardens looks well kept and I wish I was able to spend more time there. Didn't check out the zoo or the former Maxwell Hills..

Taiping has its share of rich history but is so non existence that it takes a bit of digging. Tin was discovered in Taiping and this metal gave the place prominence back in 1800. This brought in Chinese miners, the British than came to establish administration and infrastructure and the first train track built in Malaya ended in Taiping. The King George VII school is impressive, the Lake gardens opened in 1880 is beautiful and if one is after local food, there is a lot to eat; try Siam laksa, chicken noodles, Chee Cheong Fun, soya bean custard, curry laksa, curry noodles and more

Nice and quiet place to get away esp for the nature lovers and with places of interest for a few days. Easy to get around. Missed out the sepetang mangrove swamp/bird sanctuary though which is a must for nature lovers. Food isn’t quite taiping’s forte I think.

Love the old and new buildings complimenting each other. The old market which is in front of Louis Hotel was being restored. It was nice speaking to the staff at the hotel of the importance of keeping alive the history of the town.

Since Taiping is one of the well-known location, it's always packed either during weekend/weekdays. So, plan your time and tentative wisely. Also, some of the restaurants have upgrade their services to cater many guests at a time since my last visit. We went to Taiping Zoo and Taiping Lake Garden. We went to Garfu Place for dinner and Dataran Wan Ikan Bakar for lunch.

the price was expensive without any breakfast nor other facilities. the room was like a 2 star rated room . furniture is very bad . the room wasnt clean (got food leftover inside the drawer). the location is shady and near to food market hence the safety of your car is not guaranteed as the parking is shared between the hotel and the food market. really regret paying such a high price for poorly furnished, unclean and shady hotel. wont suggest for anyone especially family.

Their blanket is like the hotel type (heavy type) which very comfortable. Boss also very friendly. This place is economic (not too expensive).
