Situated a 15-minute walk from city centre of Assen, Bed and breakfast 28 offers spacious accommodation with a private garden and free WiFi. Train station Assen is 2 kilometres from the property. The apartment was very nicely furbished, clean, had a beautiful garden with a pond and the breakfast was splendid! Esther was very friedly and helpful In everything and customized the breakfast according to our needs.
We visited for World Superbikes & stayed out of town but went in one evening for a meal & we were well disappointed with the town. Just so small, minimum amount of restaurants & well over priced.
Assen is a beautiful city, and is perfect for a visit, We go every year for the BSB races, we always come away feeling like we want to stay longer, locals are so friendly, the streets are clean, I always visit Deer Park a lovely park with friendly Red Deer who will happily take carrots off passing visitors. Take the walk or cycle through Asserbos a wood full of paths and trees with bird houses on them the Dutch care. Eating out is full of choices, various restaurants are located in the square. The station is in the centre so go to Gronigen a city of diversity and students, the museum is worth a visit, marvel at the Martino Tower and walk up to the top for a view of Gronigen. Train takes 17 minutes. Two hours away is Amsterdam and trains are comfy, regular (even on Sunday) so no excuses.
There are lots of places to eat and drink in Assen but the town is incredibly quiet at night with no one walking about. This gives a bit of a dead atmosphere in my opinion. Not the place to go if you want to party. Fortunately, for me anyway, this meant quiet nights with plenty of sleep.
Clean, friendly and vibrant town, plenty of food options, reasonable pricing, keep your eyes peeled for cyclists, they appear from nowhere! Transport good, trains, buses and taxis all at the same location, bikes for hire to enable you to become one of the traveling masses!
Assen is a small and quite city in north Holland, I wouldn’t make a speacial trip only to visit here, but if it’s on your way, you will find a lively center with shops and great restaurants with delicious food! I especially recommend the Tapas bar Villa Tapas and on Wednesdays morning there’s a market right in the center. Nice to walk around.
As a Canadian we are used to driving our vehicles everywhere but with the driving regulation here of everyone from the right having the right of way, we did not feel comfortable driving here (or riding a bike)! Enjoyed it more when I was younger in the 70s!
Great location! Bus stop is right there and train station is less then a 5 minute walk. Grocery store, shopping and restaurants nearby. The house was very beautiful and the owners couldn't have been friendlier and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean . Loved that it had an extra room with table, microwave, refrigerator and coffee and tea maker. Would love to stay there again on my next visit! Wished they had more rooms available, so next year me and my friends could stay there.

The park is nicely set out, quiet and clean. It's only a short distance from the TT track which is why we chose it. We phoned on route explaining our delay arriving ,due to the amount of traffic and roadworks on driving through the Netherlands, the receptionist was understanding about this. If you have young children there seemed to be plenty for them to do at the beach and lake.
We've been coming to Esther's place for the last two years when we are in Assen for a benefit event. She is a lovely host who supplies a very early breakfast when needed - and we do. The garden is a nice place to relax, and even though I was unfortunately woken up by the neighbors kids way too early Esther has promised to talk to them so every guest an get the rest they need.
Great hotel, the towel heater and the floor heater were great. The tub was deep enough and comfortable. The shampoo and conditioner had a great smell. Breakfast was excellent, the juices were so yummy. The big red curtains in the room were nice and hided the day light.
Plenty of room for a family of four. Fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, great shower and sleeping room with a full sized double, single and an extra bed. Walking distance to city centre of Assen with shopping, restaurants, bakery and supermarkets.
This is by far the best hotel in assen it's like going home the staff are helpful and friendly. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Perfect position in fact couldn't get a better city location.
New restaurant and bar excellent. Fun swimming pool and sauna. Assen TT track and town centre both a mile away so easy to walk
