Secure underground parking for our motorbikes (booking.com doesn't seem to recognise them as a means of transport, 1/10 for booking.com) We could leave our gear on the the bikes, very convenient.
Rooms have little kitchens, would be great if you are staying for a few days. Corn bread toasties are excellent, good breakfast. Staff were very friendly, Close proximity to an Irish bar, which for us Scots was especially welcome, but not the hangover :-)
Much, much, better than the hotel we had in Alkmaar, which was twice the price ......

I have been staying in this hotel for the past 20 years and it is because of the location that I have done this. The hotel however is over appreciated as being a 4star hotel (absolutely not to international standards) and it is outdated and needs urgently refurbishing (total in-house overhaul). The rooms, bathrooms are poorly equipped, the linnen is worn out, lighting is poor, sanitair is poor, sinks are clogging, no air con, carpets are overall dirty with stains, no water supply for almost 1 whole day, uncomfortable old wooden chairs, no safe, no toiletries (soap etc), just 3 cheap liquid soap wall dispensers, old shower heads, hair dryer cannot be used in bathroom socket, rooms are cleaned in the afternoon when fully booked, car parking subject to daily cleaning due to tree blossom at this time of year, no room service, outdated door key lock system, menu card is limited, food mediocre but highly prized, foreign limited trained restaurant workers, but nice people, no art, just 2 posters, small pillows.
I made the decision not to continue anymore as there are much better hotels in the neighborhood now available. I really question their **** status.

Berg en Dal is a beautiful place full of character.
Berg en Dal is a beautiful place full of character. Lovely natural woodlands for nice walks, pretty villages and bustling city centre nearby with great restaurants, cafe and market - well worth a visit.
This was a very lovely hotel. Breakfast was good and dinner at the restaurant was also very good. We stayed 3 nights and the bed was very comfortable. The room was big and clean. We loved the large windows overlooking a pretty grassy meadow. We loved the location away from the city with nature surrounding. The staff was polite and genuinely helpful. Every staff member we encountered spoke impressively good English and I suspect Dutch and German as well. We completely enjoyed our stay.
The location is wonderful, right at the starting point of a number of beautiful walks. The hotel is an updated version of a country hotel, of which there are a number in the area. Breakfast is good, staff helpful and the hotel is very good value for money. It has a restaurant with limited options, and there are convenience products in use, but for a hotel it's an okay restaurant. Very spacious rooms, all with a balcony.
The room was large and comfortable, with a small balcony offering a very nice view of the outside. I left the window open with the curtains closed overnight to get some colder air in, but wasn't disturbed by either insects or traffic noise. It seems the hotel is in a very calm area. Parking outside was free. The bar and restaurant staff were very pleasant and fast.
it’s old, dirty and tired. the location is absolutely stunning, but inside the hotel it’s a shambles. Paint coming off the ceiling, tiny rooms, big prizes. The location is great, but don’t expect too much from this hotel. Staff tried to be helpful, but they really couldn’t do much.
