Its largest square – Vrijthof – houses the twin churches of St Jan and St Servaas, a theatre and several pavement cafes. Various festivals and the Magic Maastricht Christmas markets are also held here. Well-preserved city walls surround the Old Town and run close to the Maas River where boat trips are available. Before flying out of Maastricht Aachen Airport, don’t miss the fine art by Rubens and Van Dyck in the Bonnefanten Museum, a modern building reflecting the area’s pottery heritage.
One of my favourite towns in the Netherlands . A lot to see and all can be done by walking this beautiful city ! Fantastic restaurants shopping , the Dominican Book Store is a must see … just sitting along the rivers edge and people watching was also a fun thing to do . Avoid the big touristy squares to eat and you can find some great ones near by with better service .

There is a seemingly endless choice of; bars and restaurants and cafes. A great place if you are a foodie. Getting around is easy on foot or by cycle. Cars are banned from the city centre unless you are going to your hotel for check in or out, you then have to park your car in an underground car park.

A lovely city and so glad we made the effort to travel down from Amsterdam. Excellent shopping centre, Beautiful river. I wouldn't recommend the solar bus/train that sets out from the riverside by the river cruise boats. The way that the seating is arranged means that you are facing either right or left (not forward or backwards )so you have to either stand or crick your neck to see the side behind you

The city centre is great for walking around and shopping.
The city centre is great for walking around and shopping. The stores are good and there are also brand name shops too.
Restaurants are yummy and there are many options to choose from.
The gardens are great for a picnic or to just walk around.
I would recommend the falalfel store in the centre as well as the huge library. It was once a church. So beautiful.
I also had icecream from pink as well as waffles.
There is a burger shop called patty n buns which has the best burgers in town.
I had a wonderful stay at easyHotel Maastricht City Centre. The location was central to restaurants, shops and parks. It felt very safe to walk around the area at night and use my personalised keycard to leave and enter as needed. I also appreciated the large lockers that were available for rent after my stay, to store my luggage until I needed to head to the train station (about a 20 minute walk). The staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed in Hotel Beez during our bike packing trip. Very friendly stuff and cozy room:) All was clean and in good shape. All bars and restaurants are in few meters walking distance and in the hotel itself is a nice bar. Small grocery shop just around the corner. Can recommend if you want to be in the city centre.
Never been in hostel before- this one certainly exceeded my expectations ! We had family room, clean, comfortable, view over green and river ! woken up by ducks in the morning ! Short walk via green park to the city centre ; and having breakfast on open terrace over the river !
Which hotel can beat that ?!
