Set in Rijnsburg, 18 km from The Hague, B&B de Petrakerk offers a garden and free WiFi. We were looking for somewhere "a little bit different" and absolutely hit the target with this place! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful and their story of how this former church has now become their family home is a truly inspiring one. Spacious room with great design features and a very comfortable king size bed - if not for the fact that we had to leave from Schipol the next morning we would have loved to extend our stay.

Oesgstgeest is a great place to stay if you are looking to visit Leiden, The Hague and Utrecht. To be honest I don't know much about the town itself, which is more like a suburban neighbourhood between Leiden and Utrecht than an actual travel destination.
We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at the castle. The castle itself and most of the grounds were beautiful and well kept, no complaints there. However, the accommodation is another story. The room itself was nicely appointed but very small, there was absolutely no ventilation other than 1 window which opened a short way, no air-conditioning or extractor fan in the bathroom or toilet. On the day of the wedding it was 30degC. The room was serviced daily, that was fine but the milk/coffee/tea was not replenished in the 5 days we stayed so ran out after day one, requests for more fell on deaf ears. There was a door to the garden area where you could sit, however the grounds around here were unweeded and scruffy and littered, so not pleasant. There were a couple of times we asked reception for assistance, all very helpful at the time, but the assistance never eventuated. Seems they are more concerned with the functions and the accommodation is just an add on secondary service. The food in the restaurant was okay, nothing special. The outside eating area could have done with a good tidy up too. Really disappointed and wished we hadn't been stuck there for so long.
A lovely hotel, which will be even better in a few days when the renovations have finished. Extremely comfortable rooms which were spotlessly clean. There was a good choice at breakfast. The hotel is set in beautiful wooded surroundings, with walk ways all through the woods. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay
For those who want to stay outside the city this is the perfect spot. Walkable but far enough to get the countryside experience. Leiden is a wonderful town, 30 mins on foot or 5 mins by taxi. A dozen museums, hundreds of restaurants and miles of cobble stone street lined canal to explore.
The location was amazing, conducive environment, sparkling neat room, awesome hosts but no lift and was not able to get a room on the ground floor, not too high but for my bad leg. In all I will be back by His grace.
The two castles (one is open for public). Castle Endegeest (for walking around) and castle Oud-Poelgeest (hotel). Also they should visit Corpus (interactive museum about the body and it's functions).
