Offering a terrace and views of the garden, Amsterdam Old Holland B&B is situated in Purmerend in the Noord-Holland Region, 15 km from Amsterdam. Very nice town, easy access train twenty minutes to central station. A two minute walk to b&b. Wonderful host. I highly recommend .the room is small but I never plan much time in the room. Nice balcony
Located in the Beemster region, a UNESCO World Heritage site, this bed and breakfast offers rooms in a renovated hay-shed. An apple and pear orchard is located behind In het Fruit. It was a cute small apartment for three in a quiet neighborhood with a blooming fruit tree orchard on the property. The simple breakfast was handy for us. We enjoyed the semi-rural location and used the park and ride about 15 minutes away to take the metro to the city. Nearby small towns on the water made for quiet dinners and sunset touring after a busy day in the city.
it was a nice break from the city but honestly the location would not be too attractive if public transpo is not that frequent.... but public transportation officers of the bus were very nice and helpful.
Positive: The tourist crowd surrounding Amsterdam pushed me further out because most everything was booked. This is the first hotel/golf course that I have stayed at in Europe. The staff was nice, the property was well kept and I really enjoyed hanging out at the restaurant that allowed for outside dining. Plenty of parking and I managed to get in 10 holes of golf with rented clubs. I really enjoyed going through the process of picking out the clubs I wanted with Eris (she was fun to work with). Internet worked great! Plenty of Parking! Negative: There isn't much nightlife at the property or in the neighborhood. If you don't have a car you would feel completely stranded. Wish they had a desk. I had to sit in a chair with an stool to work on my laptop. If you want a bottle of water or snacks after restaurant hours, be sure and pack a cooler!
Quiet Village close to Zaanse Schans and Clog and Cheese shop. Need a car to drive around beautiful countryside. However living in an area with so many canals and lakes, beware of mosquitoes even in Sept. Easy bus commute to Amsterdam city
It is a town that is never mentioned but has a beautiful square in the centre surrounded by restaurants. Ideally situated for trips to many of the other local villages such as Maarkem,Volandam,Edam etc, plus it has a train and very good bus service into Amsterdam as well, beautiful area.
Quiet place with astonishing landscapes. There is nothing especial for tourists but to stay there for relaxing and touch the nature far from the crowded city of Amsterdam. And for seeing the Amsterdam, you can easily take a bus and go to the city.
Didn't see much of the town of purmerand as we travelled to Amsterdam each day. But what we did see was beautiful. Rural area. 30 mins to city via good link. Golf hotel was good decor and style.
Literally exceptional bed and breakfast. We are lucky to choose Amsterdam Old Holland B&B as the start point for our honeymoon journey in Holland. Purmerend is a lovely town; Theo and Elly are wonderfully hospitable hosts. They not only provide much useful information about what/how to explore but also comfort us with a sense of home. Living in Theo and Elly's house is one of our best memories of Holland.
They are a wonderful family! Accomadating in every way, we were worried being out late in Amsterdam but the village is wonderful and so easy to get in and out of the city. We were a family with a 19 year old son.
The value for money was great, and the location is person convenient to reach by car as well as bus from Amsterdam.
Convenient to restaurants and grocery stores.
