This 18th-century former patrician’s residence houses a restaurant and 4-star hotel in the peaceful Vreugd en Rust Park. Central Park is 4.6 mi from The Hague and offers free Wi-Fi. I loved the location, setting and ambiance of the property that was an old manor that was retrofitted into a hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

The Netherlands is not as welcoming as it used to be. You will need lots of cash. Many vendors claim to accept plastic cards but you never know until you present your card whether it will be accepted. Credit cards often declined and our Euro account debit card was declined on many occasions, " It costs us money so we don't accept them" Transport is no longer integrated - you will have to pay separately for trains/trams and others - becomes expensive. Final straw was being asked to pay 50 cents to use a toilet in the restaurant where we were having lunch. Goodbye - we will not return
This hotel is one of the best I’ve stayed at over the last year. The rooms are fabulous and the food sublime.
The friendly staff and the hotel is very close to public transport
