The whole central of this old town is a delight, as there are plenty of attractions and sights all located within a short walking distance. The tourist information offers a walking route of the town, showing all the delights of Zieriksee. For cultural lovers there are a few museums definitely worth a visit. There is a large choice of local restaurants to suit all tastes, cafes and a wine bar, as well as ice-cream parlours and even a fish and chip shop. For those who enjoy shopping, there are plenty of boutiques and galleries to tempt you. You can hire bicycles for under 10 Euros per day, which is a great idea for exploring the local area. Parking is free outside of the central zone and is only a short walk to the centre.
So picturesque. Sort of feels like you're walking along in a story-book. The whole town is beautiful, with a gorgeous or interesting building to see around every corner. Filled with great restaurants, interesting shops and galleries, there's plenty to see and do. Walking and wandering is very easy, very enjoyable. Zierikzee has quite a special vibe to it, highly recommend, including the very friendly residents.
Beautiful, historic small city with historic buildings both large and small, full of lovely cafes, restaurants, galleries and shops, and surrounded by beaches, water, and countryside excellent for biking and birdwatching.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Evening nightlife seemed to be restricted to De Gekroonde Suikerbiet. But this was found to be very friendly with excellent food and drink options. The Tapas Bar was also very good.........we had a mixed meat for 2. you have to be hungry. The cobbled streets seem endless with a treat for the tourist around every bend, beware you're in Holland every corner also has a bike heading your way.
Zierikzee is beautiful. The people are very friendly. We enjoyed the architecture and the restaurants/lunchrooms. Especially Roekoekoe and De Zeeuwse Hemel. There are some second hand shops and the houses and shops are very stylish decorated. All four of us fell in love with Zierikzee.
We were on a cycle tour and hadn't meant to stop here - but he weather was foul and getting worse so we pulled into Zierikzee and happened to chance on a lovely restaurant that didn't blanche at the state of us - cold, in dripping cyclewear. We could see immediately it was an interesting place with lots of history to explore, though the weather pit us off doing much! It looked like a place with a lot going on in nicer weather, and there was obviously a lot of artistic stuff going on too, round the area called Montmartre. INteresting frog fountains and a sculpture of a man with a frog that was obviously related to some local story we never fund out about. Ate our evening meal in Eetcafe Matktzicht, where staff were attentive and friendly and I tried a lovely Valencian wine.
