The hotel is in a great location close to the waterfront (3 minutes walk). The room was a good size. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. I did not try the restaurant on the 9 floor with the views.

Beautiful sea town with an art nouveau appearance of most structures. A good place for walking..admittedly we stayed here as a springboard to visit Gerlainger Fyord but it was worth it...we were stunned to see massive cruise ships stop for port calls unloading hordes of people..locals don't fancy this either as these people tend to leave their wallets on the boat..could have lived without that for sure..8/10 on the overall experience scale..glad we went.

Olesund is a nice small sea town.
Olesund is a nice small sea town. I enjoyed the park on top of the hill which has a total of 418 stairs to the observatory on top which offers a magnificent 360-degree view of the fjord. There are some small rest stops on the way up. Next is the port and canal - nice for a walk or maybe a swim. The guys at the Uteguiden - Ålesund Adventure Centre give out kayaks - totally recommend them. They give courses for beginners too. They also rent out e-bikes. The town offers several good plays to eat - ranging from sushi, to italian, indian, thai and local cuisine. Also bars like the Smutthullet pub, Dirty Nelly and Nomo are a must to visit and dive in the atmosphere here.

We loved Alesund!
We loved Alesund! We stopped off at the Tourist Information Center in their downtown harbor office, the ladies there were extremely helpful and welcoming, helping us getting fjord tickets and orienting us to the city. The city is so charming, walkable and offers fantastic views, especially if you manage to climb the 487 steps from a city street up a mountain! Alesund has been spared the throngs of tourists.

Beautiful city, good shops and restaurants.
Beautiful city, good shops and restaurants.
Easy to explore city on foot although it is quite steep sometimes. Not far to explore other attractions like the Pacific bridge, Trollstigen and Geirangerfjord.

I loved that it wasn't very big, yet there was plenty to do there, and it was beautiful as well. I really enjoyed hiking up around the Aksla. There were plenty of excursions that could be done from there, and the scenery was gorgeous. It was very easy getting around the town, whether on fun or via public transportation, and it was relaxing.

Alesund is very beautiful seen from above so make sure you go to Aksla viewpoint where you arrive.
You will love the city if you love the Art Nouveau style.
I am not a fan of this type of architecture so I was not amazed by the city while I was walking in. There is a bit of lack of life and it's very quiet.
However, the landscapes and the nature all around the city is absolutly stunning so this is a great reason to visit this town.
It’s a little out of town but worth it for the ambience of the property. We were warmly welcomed and helped with suggestions for dinner and parking in the centre of Alesund. Our room was more like a suite, very spacious and richly furnished in keeping with era of the house. The bathroom was larger than some hotel rooms we’ve had and well equipped. Breakfast was plentiful and delightfully served on a tiered platter and crystal dishes. Made us feel like royalty.
These rooms are very well-designed and make for a very nice stay. I'm not able to comment further as my schedule involved getting to the hotel, unpacking only to get needed clothing for the following day, showering and sleeping. I had planned a lovely evening walking about the most known streets that make Alesund so special, but alas I just had to get some sleep.
The hotel was perfectly located for exploring Alesund and beyond. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the outdoor baths and the breakfast was excellent, catering to all tastes. This was an unexpected second visit to the hotel because of Storm Hans. We had no hesitation in returning.
Very good breakfast.
Nice place to stay, clean.
Very helpful and polite staff.
If I visited Alesund again, I would choose Quality Hotel Waterfront to stay.
