Everyone will tell you it’s a tiny tourist trap with nothing to do etc and yes, it’s the tourists’ first stop in the fjords and everything is overpriced. However, if you explore, you can find things to see and do from there. It’s peaceful and quite beautiful, so definitely go when there isn’t a cruise ship in the tiny port.

Flam port is not a little town it's a port with tourist facilities and the famous amazing train trip which we loved. I would recommend people staying in nearby towns like Aurlands which has a little town vibe. I did not visit the proper town of Flam but I'm sure it would also be charming.

This is a scenic place and a getaway for all the ‘Norway in a nutshell’ tours. Unfortunately prices and level of service do not match up. The local businesses are hungry for tourist money, but don’t provide a warm, welcoming environment for visitors. Feels more transactional than most other equally touristy places.

Most everyone travels here to get out to the Fjords.

Most everyone travels here to get out to the Fjords. It is not that easy to get there, and the boat trip isn't long. . If I would do it over, I would have taken a cruise from Bergen as you spend more time in the Fjords because you're traveling through them.

Flam is at the hub of transportation, where the train, buses, and the ferries meet. It ebbs and flows with tourists which may be overwhelming for some. The Aeger Brewery Restaurant is outstanding if you enjoy beer tasting. I think Flam is good for one night’s stay at most if you want a break from transit and a little more than a stop over to shop, dine, enjoy Aeger, or do a fjord safari (highly recommended!).

Flam is a nice stop on a trip in Norway.

Flam is a nice stop on a trip in Norway. We stayed one night as we traveled from Bergen to Oslo. It's a beautiful place, unless you are going to hike, I don't think there is any need to stay longer.

Excellent location near the train station and dock. Cultural park behind the hotel is lovely for a leisure walk. Had a room facing the dock which had the best views of the sunset and sunrise over the fjord

Location was beautiful. Right on the water. Had lunch in the little restaurant which was also very nice. Everything in Norway was expensive for us , so relatively speaking it was good value for money !!

It’s still expensive because Norway is, but it’s a good place to stay in Flåm if you’re on a budget.
