Marcos checked us in. he was super friendly and had a chat for over 10 minutes with us. the pods are amazing and I had one of the best sleeps in a hostel. common areas are super clean. shoutout to ricki, one of the best reception I ever saw in my life. smiling all the time, helping whenever you need help and loves to have a chat with you as well. you can not have any bad experiences with this hostel if ricki is checking you in. thank you for all your help!

Very good clean hostel with good vibes. The staff members are nice and kind. I was especially helped by a Japanese staff member called Ken. He showed me around places in Christchurch by his car. These days with him gave me fantastic memories.  I will definitely come back to this hostel again. :) Thank you!

The location was great and the renovated house offered a homey aesthetic.

Renovated in 2015, Urbanz offers accommodations in downtown Christchurch. The building features a range of rooms with either shared or private bathrooms.

Reception was always well manned during the hours posted and the stff was always friendly and helpful. The facility is well organized and clean. e.g. Staff can be seen vaccuming the hallway and stairwells on a daily basis. Bathrooms were clean and supplies--paper towels & toilet paper--were always available.

Great hostel. Came back again after staying here already for a month back in june. It's a quiet hostel, not many travelers. I just love the location as it's literally a 3 min walk to the beach where you can wind down, watch surfers or go for a run. All the necessary shops are in walking distance. There is free parking. The bathrooms are renovated so clean hot showers. The kitchen has a great view of the street and mountains. Some people might think New Brighton is dead but I think it's definitely up and coming!

Chester St Backpackers is well situated in the center of Christchurch, and provides a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge.
