AustraliaOur time spent here was perfect from the moment we arrived to the time we left. We were met by our very friendly, warm, welcoming hosts Sue & Paul. After showing us around and asking if we wanted a complimentary wine tasting & tour, we settled in our one bedroom Studio, which was very comfortable and well appointed. We took up the dinner option & had a wonderful, memorable evening full of delicious food, good fun conversation and of course their fabulous Pinot wines enjoyed by all of us.
Another highlight of course is the magnificent view from the house over their great garden & extended to the Vines and the majestic background of
the Grey Ridge, just amazing!
Thanks again for a great time & experience.

I was only in Alex for the one night, for a wedding. The place is very clean, typical of NZ country township. All the usual shops, pub, petrol stn, golfcourse and nic nac shops. Great weather, sunny and warm

Places to go to are not far to travel
You can go to Clyde.Queenstown . Wanaka. Cromwell all between 15 minutes to hour and half lovely scenery 😀there is a lot of history up and round Cromwell and the gold mines

There is a big clock on the hilltop.
There is a big clock on the hilltop. A big playground in the city centre. An information centre with a museum and a small gallery in the same building. We could walk along the river in the bush. Grocery shopping was easy as there are two major supermarkets, New World and Woolworths. Fast food was easy to find. Cafes offer good-tasting coffee. There is plenty of free parking in the town centre, from where we could walk almost anywhere around the town. Alexandra is a small town for a visit, where you want to unwind in a laid-back setting. It is also close to Cromwell and Roxburgh, where you can go for cherry picking in the summer.

Nothing to not like about Central Otago, Biking is superb...
Nothing to not like about Central Otago, Biking is superb with Gold Trails, Dunstan Trail and Rail Trail all at your fingertips. Great cafe and restaurants in Clyde such as The Post Office and Olivers and The Court House in Alexandra.

Alex is a great central place that you can get to all the good spots from.
Much better than staying in Queenstown with all the traffic and planes going overhead.

Great cabin - if a bit small.
Great cabin - if a bit small. Great view of mountain and cows. Beautiful breakfast and friendly hosts. Ate at Mexican restaraunt (seemed like the only one open). Good food and ambience. Would go back again.

Hawkdun Rise is located on the outskirts of Alexandra a quaint village with a beautiful river running through the middle. however, Suzanne and John directed us to the historical village of Clyde and later Cromwell enroute to Queenstown. These villages are a must see with excellent restaurants, bars and history aplenty.

Great cottage only 4 minutes from Clyde and 7 minutes from Alexandra.
Great hosts. Yummie home made bread, jam, yogurt , fruit and biscuits made for great breakfasts .
Cottage had everything almost brand new. Great deck to sit and watch the sun go down with a wine.
Highly recommend.

Lovely cabin, not close to anyone else. Great outlook, pleasant grounds. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Within easy reach of Clyde or Alexandra ...4 minutes by car! Opposite Ruru Winery ....lovely wines, wine tasting and platters on request.

We had fantastic meal at the restaurant with other amazing people. We were looked after by the staff, owners and family of owners which was a bonus. We would recommend Centennial Hotel highly.
