Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sporting events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of the Viaduct Harbour.

The Central Business District of Auckland was great.
The Central Business District of Auckland was great. We spent 8 nights there right by the wharf. We enjoyed the city tours & the ferry service to the surrounding islands. We took a wine tasting tour to Waiheke Island that we really enjoyed using the ferry. We also took a sailboat tour of the harbor that let passengers steer the boat. Really a lot of fun. Tons of foods places of all types. Plenty of museums & parks.

The largest city in New Zealand yet able to see most of the main sights within 2 days. Recommend to take the Hop On, Hop Off bus for the easiest way to see the main sights within the city. Many great restaurants located in the Britomart area (Amano) and Pier/Viaduct Harbour (Soul). Both restos offered outstanding food and service. Many other pub bar/restos too with good choice of beers. Great choice of cafes for good breakfast to kick start the day. We were impressed with the good offerings of F&B throughout the city coupled with the outstanding service at every place we went to.

Auckland Central has changed a lot in recent years with vagrants hanging around on Queen Street. You don't feel safe in the city after dark. The Police and Council have increased patrols after the general election to regain control over the city so during the day the vibe is still good. Transport is still excellent, kudos to Auckland Transport for their trains and buses especially the Link buses.

Convent Hotel was a great place to stay in Auckland. The building and rooms are full of character and interesting decor. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom were well equipped with very good showers. The complimentary crisps etc were much appreciated and the free parking was a bonus. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and came to our aid by finding and looking after our pack of travel documents which we accidently left behind. With the city centre only a 10 minutes drive away this a lovely place to stay if you visit Auckland.
Warm, spotless, quiet, luxurious. Great access to Airport & out of the City hustle. Comfortable rooms /dreamy beds / melt in your mouth food. Amazing hospitable receptionist / staff, particularly inviting on arrival & so helpful. Loved Kevin Tautau the Concierge who made us feel like family. Kevin & the staff's hospitality & the exceptional hotel & service is the reason this hotel is the only choice for our family now on in Auckland.
I really loved the service - getting picked up by the hotel and dropped off at the Auckland International Airport was a great bonus and being able to park our vehicle somewhere secure for free for the week. Top notch staff and real close to airport.
For a budget central city hotel in Queen Street I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and had all the usual amenities. Very helpful staff with sorting taxis to airport for our group at a good price.
So close to the airport, free parking, and while the rooms were small, the beds were so comfortable I forgot I was in a budget hotel. Would definitely stay again.
