In Clyde, I was looking for a quiet-ish place with a bit of activity around, so I could do some work without distractions, but feel not too distant from other people. Clyde exceeded my expectations!
What I liked - there's such a variety of things around - a beautiful historic town centre with a few cafes and restaurants. Even a cinema. There's wine stuff nearby for those who are into that (I'm not into that personally). And there are a few walking tracks - I did part of the Cairnmuir Hill Track, which offered beautiful landscapes and stunning views of the surrounding areas.
I also really enjoyed looking at the nearby Hydro dam.

Great place to visit and the Start of the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. Cyclists are well catered for and at the end of the day there are a number of cafes, and a couple of excellent restaurants. .. just need to book.
Very enjoyable small Central Otago town full of heritage buildings and beside the river - a great place to explore.

We stayed in Clyde as we were doing a one day bike ride along the Otago Rail Trail. Easy access to the Bike Rental and as we returned to the Clyde station it was perfect for us. Trail Journeys fit us for our bikes, drove us out to Auripo and sent us on our way. Great 61km ride!!!! Coffee at Lauder :) Beer and a Cheese Roll at Chatto Cool. :) We ate both nights at Paulina's Restaurant. Excellent food. The Lamb rump and Seafood paella were delicious. Definitely stay in Clyde and use Trail Journeys!

There is so much to do with the Otago Rail Trail, and other trips available. Boat access to Lake Dunstan, swimming in summer, good camping ground by the lake. Short drive to Alexandra for some retail therapy. Also a good golf course, dog park if you should have your best friend with you. Several good eating places such as Paulinas, the Old Post Office Cafe, and if you just want takeaways the Village Cafe and takeaways are the place to go. Also good value is Orchard Garden Cafe on Dunstan Road. It is a few kilometers out of town but a beautiful setting. The meals are more into the fine dining, but with a medium price tag.
We loved everything about The Prospectors on Miner accommodation. The industrial+modern design, the beautiful outdoor deck, the comfortable beds and beautiful bed linen + wonderful kitchen and bathroom. Everything was exceptionally clean and comfy and brand new. And whilst being located on the owners property it is very private.
I'd say this is the best place to stay in historic Clyde - and a great base to cycle Dunstan Lake, Roxburgh Gorge and the Central Otago rail trail.
This is a super cute cottage in a good location, handy to the center of Clyde. Jenny is an excellent host who goes above and beyond to provide great service. It was very wet the morning we left and quite unpleasant conditions to be packing up our car. Jenny suddenly appeared and very kindly held an umbrella over me while I was doing this. Highly recommended for a short stay.
Everything. I travel a lot. There is not a single thing I would recommend to make this a better stay. I almost hate to rate it so highly, as when I want to come back there won’t be an any vacancies! Elaine and the property were fantastic. Stayed twice, at the beginning and the end of an out and back bike ride on the Otago Rail Trail from Clyde to Middlemarch.
Location was excellent.
Clyde is a stunning town and the place was right in the heart of things.
Hosts incredibly friendly and helpful (a lovely yet unobtrusive dog and cat thrown in)
Quirky and interesting design (an old converted workshop which was very unique)
Very clean and tidy.
Efficient communication.
The hotel has a lovely historic ambiance with all the modern conveniences. The exterior spaces were all designed perfectly to the era making it very cozy. The owner/host was very helpful and breakfast had all that we needed. We plan on staying here again on our next bike trip out of Clyde. Loved it!
The perfect Clyde location. In the town centre immediately adjacent to pubs, restaurants and cycle shops. The building restoration work is incredible and impressive. The beds were awesome - comfortable and warm. The breakfasts were perfect and well catered for preparing for the day ahead.
The unit was in a great location to walk into Clyde for an evening meal and to be able access a range of bike tracks. Christine responded promptly to our question about bike storage and the washing machine meant that we could catch up on our washing :)
This was a beautifully restored stone cottage in the main street of Clyde. Very small but cosy, and had everything we needed. Shortbread and fruit was a lovely touch. Sorry we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor area but we can't control the weather!
Modern stand alone cottage in a pleasant garden setting at the back of the property. The cottage is luxuriously appointed, clean, comfortable, quiet and a short walk to Clyde amenities. Would happily stay again.
Very clean and spacious bedroom and bathroom. You will have your own private terrace. The interior gave us a feeling of staying at a hotel. You will for sure get value for your money.
The location was excellent! We have been to Clyde many times before, but had never looked in to the old stone cottage across the road on Fraser Street. It is a little gem!
