This is not a place for adventure sports & excitement. It is an arts community that is "off the beaten track". We found it very interesting & were lucky to have unique experiences which made it memorable. It is not for everybody. It is a tiny village with a special character.
Kohukohu is a remote area and the original site of settlers on the west coast of the far north. There are several great beaches including 90 mile , Bay of Islands to visit. Breakfast at the Gallerria and evening meals from the hotel, cafe and takeaway are a must. The town is very small with a general store some boat trips on the estuary. It is presently home to a growing art community . The first Frid in the month saw us enjoying the open mike session at the local Fire Station where we were amazed at the quality of local talent.
