Clean facilities. The bath was nice to relax in but when emptied soapsuds came up through the central floor drain indicating drainage issues.

Lower Hutt is a good place to stay when traveling to the Capital City. No matter where you stay, you will find a great cafe around. There is the Hutt river where you can go for a picnic or take a walk around. The Queensgate Mall is also a great place for shopping or to catch a movie. There are Medical emergency clinics on the main streets and the Hutt Hospital when needed.
Some great restaurants you can choose from, including the Angus restaurant which I thought serves amazing meals of choices.

A place where you can be sure to find a good coffee shop /cafe, have a picnic by the river or check out the Queens gate mall, where more cafe and other food outlets are located.
Great outdoor parks for children and not too far to drive to the city or use public transport.

Used Lower Hutt accommodation as was attending an event in Porirua and facilities there were booked out a year earlier. Did not experience Lower Hutt at all apart from somewhere to stay and travel to and from.

Petone has a great shopping area on Jackson St and surrounds, with some quirky boutique shops. In particular, I recommend their excellent op shops for quality second hand goods. There are multiple good dining options here, including excellent cafés. We tried "Caffiend", which has excellent coffee.

Was visiting family for Christmas.
Was visiting family for Christmas. Lower Hutt is easy, grew up there. Had dinner twice at Simply Grill Kitchen in Petone, very nice. Would recommend Lower Hutt or Petone for accommodation as very easy to travel into the city - time/distance wise, but accommodation options are probably easier and better value for money 'out the Hutt'
Having never been to Lower Hutt before (my son moved there last year) I was not exactly sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The location was excellent (for me anyway as my son lives about two blocks away). I can't say the convenience would have been good for someone needing to be somewhere else though.
well laid out, good facilities, full kitchen and laundry facilities, attractive aspect towards distant Wellington city and harbour across lower Petone, convenient location for Petone and Hutt Valley, friendly and very helpful staff.
Location - walking distance to main street of Petone, Petone train station and esplanade (and cycling paths which could take you into Wellington or to the Eastern Bays or on the Remataka Rail Trail).
