We like to stay in the lodge at the Bird Recovery Centre but the Miranda Holiday park is also a good place. It is quiet, attractive with the Firth of Themes and good to stop and have a break after all the traffic of Auckland. We have had four or five days there previous to our recent trip, my children learnt all about the shorebirds, we enjoyed friendly company and were made to feel at home, and the fish n chips are recommended. Also Themes is a good visit from there, not too much of a drive and lots of mining history.
We took it a day at a time. The hostess was very amiable. She is also very aware of the places to visit in the Coromandel which can save the traveller a lot of planning time. Thames is about 20 minutes drive and has excellent eating places. We like crispy fresh fish and chips with plenty of salt. The oysters are also yummy. Coromandel is a young couples paradise. Baby boomers can still enjoy the surroundings, the small quaint towns along the coast roads and the beautiful Firth of Thames views from the road.
The best family holiday resort - friendliest staff ever, excellent facilities, great place if you want a quick break from Auckland and don't need to travel far. Love staying here - keep up the great work team @ Miranda Holiday Park :)
