Located Among the Southern Alps, YHA Mt Cook features views of Mount Cook, and is 656 feet from Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center. We had a view of the glaciers from our room. The kitchen is complete and is a good place to meet new friends over cooking and cleaning. The hostel is located near the start of the famous trails.
Located in Mount Cook National Park and offering beautiful mountain views, Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Lodge is a 5-minute walk from Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center. Excellent scenery! Mountain view room, bathroom, facilities, WiFi, staffs, ALL is great! 100/10!
Glentanner Park is a holiday park and activity center offering affordable accommodations and panoramic views of Aoraki Mount Cook and Mount Cook National Park. The staff are very accommodating. It’s 15 mins drive from Mt Cook Village but it has a really good view of the mountains from your room. Clean bathroom and comfortable beds.
Boasting picturesque views of native rainforest and mountains, Fox Glacier Pod Hostel & Inn offers a unique and tranquil accommodations experience. Perfect location and bar/restaurant on site. Easy walk to anything in town. Super comfortable and quiet!
Great place to use as a base for the numerous trails. Not too far to travel (only minutes) to really see the night sky in total darkness. Mt Cook flight tours very close (highly recommend the combo with Inflight which is located only a short drive away. (You actually get picked up and returnd to the Hermitage). You get to go onto the Tasman Glacier on a helicopter, walk around on the snow and return on a ski plane. The staff and pilots are fantastic. The views on the various trails are spectacular. We unfortunately were not able to do the Hooker Valley trail as the first suspension bridge was closed due to recent flooding. Make sure you have plenty of storage space for your digital photos as you will constantly be taking heaps of photos and videos.
A bright sunny day seeing the entire Peak was breathtaking. Days prior to our arrival was cloudy and you couldn’t see the top. They have an awesome buffet and windows around the entire side to take in the view. Clean rooms and very friendly staff.
Small mountain village at the base of the Southern Alps, flat grasslands that run directly into sharp, snow peaked mountains. Phenomenal views and must walk Hooker Valley track which is very easy (unfortunately washed out during my stay), rent a bike or drive to the Blue Lakes and Tasman Glacier track. Do the Mueller track for the best view of Mt. Cook and tops of the Southern Alps but be prepared for a longer and more difficult hike, accessible during prime tramping season. Great hiking to complement the scenery. Bring food to the village as there is no small grocery or convenience store.
This is one of my favorite places I have ever visited. The natural beauty in unbelievable. There are hikes here for all levels of fitness. Don't miss seeing Mt Cook National Park if you are visiting New Zealand.
An amazing drive from Christchurch with breathtaking sceneries. Fabulous quality of food at the hotel and of course a view from the restaurant. To die for. Next time will split the trip by spending a few nights at Tekappo.
Staying in Mt Cook village is a great option if you are wanting to experience mt cook in one or two days. The drive from Twizel to mt cook village is quite long and would not be the best time saving option. Also, the views from the village are spectacular. If you are unable or unwilling to do the hikes in the area then staying in the village is a good option to soak in the views. There is very little as far as food and entertainment options in the village however-two restaurants but the food was good. Small bar with pool and darts located in the village.

Initially I thought the price for the room was a little steep but once I reach there I was blown away by the beautiful views right outside my room (Room 6). It was all worth it! The bed was comfortable and we had a good night sleep and woke up to an amazing view of Aoraki. What a memorable stay.

Beautiful room, fantastic view. If you want to self-cater make sure you do your food shop before you get to Mount Cook village as there are no food shops.
