Just 200 metres from Otorohanga’s cafes, restaurants and shops, Palm Court Motel offers accommodation with cooking facilities. Guests enjoy free WiFi. The owner is helpful, knows a lot about the place. a clean, spacious room, equipped to a very high standard, comfortable beds and warm blankets, walking distance from the main street of the town, and a short drive from the caves. It is highly recommended.
Boasting garden views, The End Lounge B&B features accommodation with a patio and a kettle, around 45 km from Mystery Creek Events Centre. Everything was perfect, especially the bed which was super comfortable. Even though the property is on a main road, it was pretty quiet inside. The room heats up quickly and is very modern. The breakfast facilities were a nice touch.
Waitomo Golfstays B&B is a minute’s walk from Waitomo Golf Course and a 10-minute drive from Waitomo Caves. My daughter is Coeliac and has a nut allergy but the hosts went out of their way to provide a selection of breakfast options. They were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but clean and fresh with comfortable beds and a well equipped bathroom.
Chris and Dave's B & B offers accommodation in Otorohanga, 500 metres from the town centre. This bed and breakfast offers a garden. The accommodation features free WiFi throughout the property. I loved our stay at Chris & Dave's B&B Given alot of privacy, Chris was very mindful and considerate and didn't disturb us. Very helpful when needed and so easy to get along with. The room was spacious, spic and span, decor was lovely, so cosy and comfy, hot shower, electric blanket & column heater were great as I got quite cold, nearing the evening and Oto, being my home town, it was nice to be in the township and surrounding areas, where I spent alot of my younger years. Chris was so hospitable, communication was great between us before, during and after.. I enjoyed the R & R which was needed. Close to all amenities as we were in Otorohanga Township, only a street and Abit away from the main drag and Town Centre, close to Kiwi House, Pool Complex Petrol Station, shops, cafes/ takeaways/ Restaurants etc.. The weather was beautiful during the day. It kept the room quite warm for awhile. So grateful to be able to check in early A memorable visit.. Thanks so much Chris & Dave for everything! Note: Anz & Westpac ATMs are on the right side of the main drag of Otorohanga Town Centre, if needing cash..*Cash only at Chris & Dave's B&B*
Otorohanga is where my Father was born and bred. I have wonderful memories here as well as a child. I would definitely recommend it to those especially who have only driven through and not stopped to take a look. I loved revisiting the Kiwi House, reading info about my Tupuna(Ancestors) illustrated by the totem poles standing next door to Ronnie's Bar and Cafe, A must to sit down for a cuppa, Breakfast and lunch. A walkway of old and new to take a peak at down Sir Edmund Hillary Walkway. It's somewhere you can relax and put your feet up, There's a lil market on a Sunday, selling Honey, Antlers jewellery, jewellery stands and key rings, knitted items and assorted home made Jam and beautifully made wooden trucks and a Fire Engine. If you like walnuts stop by the vege shop there, and the nectarines are lovely too. Besides that it was nice to bump into people I hadn't met before to find out they were related. I love Otorohanga. A Home away from Home. I was coming down for a meeting, unfortunately it was cancelled but I chose to come through anyway. It was worth the Stay. Driving along the back roads was nice too, breathing in the fresh air and taking in the sights and greenery reminiscing about my child hood and places close to my heart. Te Hokingamai Ki Te Nehenehenui Marae and Te Kotahitanga Marae..& The Old Homestead (over 100 years old) The only disappointment was ordering a meal for dinner on Saturday Evening and then finding out it was about to close. There are other options though Mcds is open 24/7 is up the Road if that's to your liking and I brought along fruit & snacks as well.
Looks like a lovely little township ,enjoyed the memory lane photos and the railway station coffee shop ,seemed to be lots of nice shops up town but we didn't stop long enough to see anything else.
We went to Otorohanga mainly for cycling through the new cycling pathway at Stopbank pathway. It wasn't a long ride but the view was worth it. We also revisited the Kiwihouse to learn more about our birds. I was hoping there would be more buzz and life in Kiwiana town, but unfortunately, it was small and quiet and there was nothing much to do here. I could have stayed an extra night to make sure we've covered everything - a winter's day is rather short though - by 5pm it was really dark and there was nothing much to do. Inaka is a great Japanese restaurant, apparently Thirsty Weta is also good for drinks and food but it was really busy so you must book. Next time I would probably stay in a different town so we can get to more activities around the area, rather than staying at Otorohanga.
Otorohanga is not a destination, just a rural town. OK to stay here as near to Waitomo. Nothing here to see except the Kiwi bird house and if you want to see the giant metal Pukeko sculpture (more suited to kids). The Lions second hand shop the most expensive 2nd hand shop I have ever been to. The Thirsty Weta Bar has great food. Definitely do a side trip to the Mangapohue Natural Bridge you wont regret it, and the Marokopa Falls,
very handy to our visit to Waitomo Caves. Enjoyed our Japanese takeaway. Lovely gift/furniture shop would loved to had more time to enjoy. McDonalds there too which was very friendly team and spotlessly clean facilities. Kids loved the playground.
A nice small town with friendly people, famous for kiwianna. Very convenient for visiting the Waitomo glow worm caves just 10 mins away. A really nice op shop on the main street and lots of cafes to choose from. The area has lots of interesting places to visit with very helpful staff at the tourist info unit housed in the local library.
Spacious, clean, great sized TV, good shower, good sized ensuite. Great breakfast - variety of cereals and oats, fresh fruit, yogurt and milk with range of coffee with plunger. Good fridge size, containing bottle of milk, yogurt, fruit juice and bottled water when we arrived. Comfortable bed, double glazing, warm and quiet. Country outlook and 4 mins away from restaurants in Otorohanga. Terrific private outside bath, under patio roof. Own private garden. A great stay, highly recommended.
Way better than any hotel! One can easily feel that Marain & Noel really care about the place: it's beautiful, cozy, charming... Mind you: set an alarm the day you check-out! Bed and pillows are so comfy that you'll definitely sleep-in. Bathroom sparkling clean, toiletries are great, nice shower, towels, comfy sofa and tables to eat inside or outside, breakfast is great... a memorable Kiwi experience.
Beautiful house, location was great for exploring Waitomo area. And the hosts were super lovely. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
Cosy and clean home. Very nice family and friendly dogs. Had a great time exploring the nearby attractions of Waitomo!
Easy walk to Otorohanga township, very knowledgeable & friendly staff, cooking facilities, BBQ and SPA available.
Good location. We were going to Waitomo and it was a short drive away.

Great view. Nice relaxing spot near enough to waitomo Caves.
