The outlook from the cottage into a beautiful garden was stunning. It was a shame that the weather was so bad. This said the cottage was cosy and welcoming.

She went out of her way to help us figure out our plan for visiting the Bay of Islands. The apartment was very comfortable and clean with a well furnished kitchenette. The yard and gardens were beautiful. We highly recommend staying at Aimeo Cottage.

Stunning spot! Loved all the birdlife - it was so relaxing sitting on the porch in the sunshine with the birds all around.
Super special experience seeing a wild kiwi for the first time. The manager there was the best, and I had so much fun exploring the place with her looking for kiwi! (If you're reading this, I went for a wander to say bye to you but didn't spot you. Thank you for an awesome stay! <3 )
The cabin itself was really comfy, great wee kitchenette too, but the deck overlooking the wetlands was the highlight.
I've found a new favourite holiday spot, will be back soon!

Do yourself a favour and stay for a few days at this wonderful place. There are so many walks, and lots of beautiful spots to explore. It would be a shame to limit yourself to the main street.
The museum and the French Printery are certainly worth a visit, as is getting up to the top of Flagstaff Hill and having a coffee from the van on Long Beach.
The 4 Square shop is well stocked and reasonably priced if you are self catering.

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as day visits so to be honest Ive only stayed in the little township itself but loved that.
This time I stayed a night to attend a function.
The motel was the icing on the cake because where you stay can make or break a stay anywhere. The view of the harbour below with boats anchored..you couldn't beat. I want to come back..and my friend and I intend to. It's handiness was great.
Great afternoon of shopping..something for everyone & delightful 'The Grazing table' cafe for home cooked sweets with delicious coffee. Would have liked to spend more time in the fabulous looking book store..great looking coffee table books on display but I ran out of time. There is something for everyone here.
Russell town can easily be walked around in a short time without stopping..but who wants to do that. It's a lovely, interesting quaint place with a lovely harbour looking over to Paihia where you go to connect to main highway..eventually. A day passenger ferry runs regularly from Paihia & to.
There are other areas to visit over the hill and the car ferry over from Opua is very quick and efficient.
And least but not forgotten..the fantastic Duke of Marlborough hotel and accomodation with its elegance gracing the shoreline is a highlight. I had a lovely evening supportng the Recuse Helicopters fundraising event..it was spent under gorgeous chandelier lighting with all the simple but lovely table settings. Surely a grand gentleman which began in 1827 as 'Johnny Johnsons Grog Shop' by an ex convict come good!

A beautiful serene village.
A beautiful serene village. You need to be prepared to walk & explore the area. Lovely places to eat & drink - our most favourite is Hones Kitchen. Getting out on the water in a boat is an added bonus

One of my favourite places to visit. The views over the water, wandering around the town and awesome restaurants like the French Cafe at the end of the waterfront. So relaxing and peaceful and friendly people.

Beachfront walk, Pompallier House, French cafe next to Pompallier House, Christ Church historic Anglican church, especially the 10:30am service, the Russell Museum with extensive collections exceptionally well-presented and amazing and only $10. Long Beach. Boat trip to Urupukapuka Island and Cape Brett and Hole in the Rock. Okiato 7km away which was the early capital around 1840-1842, and had the site of the first Government House.

did not have enough time. The unit I chose was just at the city, line, and thus close enough, if you forgot anything, takes 5 minutes to go bac,k to Bnb, from city center,

Loved the service! We booked a cabin for two nights. After the first night a class of (rowdy) primary school students arrived and stayed in the rooms on the opposite side of our cabin. We were content to stay there, but got an upgrade to a bigger (private) cabin, without having asked.
The town of Russell is a 5 minute drive and from there the ferry to Paihia in 15 minutes. Both a must see!

Loved this place. Very quirky - it is a converted shed. Outside it’s an old shed, but inside it’s a luxury apartment with every convenience, very well converted. Ideally situated for centre of Russell.
