Well appointed kitchen, nice size, great porch, very quiet. Location pretty close to town, could walk. Grocery store close by. Most restaurants downtown. Washer and dryer worked well. We used the BBQ 3 nights, great!

Clean, comfortable and extremely quiet considering the proximity to a busy highway. The woman working in reception was very helpful and through in discussing both local attractions and restaurants and also our future travel plans. The only negative was some sort of thumping sound in the middle of the night.coming from what I thought was the room above us. However in the morning we noticed we were on the top floor 🤔 One last note: We checked out of our room and walked a short distance for Brekky. When we returned we found the travel guide book we had left in our room wrapped in a moisture proof bag and stowed under the windshield. Kudos for the awesome customer service!

    A pleasant town to visit with good restaurants and boutique shops. The Thai Sukhothai restaurant is one of the best in New Zealand. Bustling port exporting logs, cement and seafood. Good beaches are a runaway hit with young families.

    Timaru is big enough to have a variety of shopping and...

    Timaru is big enough to have a variety of shopping and things to do, especially if you are a first-time visitor. I go there occasionally for my work, but I enjoy walking around the central business area to look at the old buildings and long established businesses. There is a somewhat "comfortable/established" air about the place, that would have me happily relocating to live and work there permanently if my circumstances were different. The natural features of the countryside, wild eastern beaches and mountain foothills are all available with a hour or so by car. Worth exploring!

    The first thing I want to mention is the Tesla charging...

    The first thing I want to mention is the Tesla charging station. There is several charging terminals in Timaru which is very important for traveling in South Island by electric cars. We didn’t see penguins , seals and sea lions in Timaru because we didn’t have enough time to stay there and not very lucky. The sand in Caroline bay beach is very soft and clear. If you can come in summer, you can enjoy the beach walk and may luckily see penguins and seals in the evening on the beach.

    We had a lovely time and being in timaru it is the starting point to other places close by oamaru dunedin Queenstown wanaka the beautiful pools in tekapo mount cook and so many adventures along the way oh and don't forget to visit the rainbow lolly factory in oamaru

    The sculpture park was beautiful - very interesting to walk...

    The sculpture park was beautiful - very interesting to walk around. We went to try and see the blue penguins at night but only one came ashore! The people in in the information centre were extremely helpful.

    We liked the shopping.

    We liked the shopping. Lots of cafes, could always get coffee and cake when we wanted it. The museum was superb, interactive and full of interesting facts and exhibits. Amazingly it was all free. We went to the Sunday market which was worth a look. Timaru is easy to get around by car.We didn't use public transport so I can't comment on that

    The situation can't be faulted. A walkable distance to the picturesque Caroline bay. Ocean views from the top suites and close to shops and amenities. The apartment was spacious (2 bedrooms) and full cooking facilities with plenty of cupboard and storage space. The Host, Bali (sorry if I spelt this incorrectly) good not have been more helpful. He accommodated all of my requests and is very responsive to questions and needs.

    It was quite a long way from central Timaru, much too far to walk. Fortunately there was a restaurant directly under the hotel and a convenience shop onsite as well so easy access to food. I really liked the bathroom, it was modern and clean,the beds were comfortable but the room didn't ventilate well so it was a bit stuffy.     This motel was located above Caroline Bay within easy walking distance of the beach, gardens, tracks, aquatic centre and supermarket. The room was well soundproofed - essential in this part of Timaru, as SH1 runs right through the town. Everything was lovely and clean, with a good shower. The wifi was fine, and recycling was available.

    The motel was very close to the centre of town and was comfortable to stay in. It's within a few minutes drive of Caroline Bay and the main attractions Timaru has to offer. Staff were friendly as well and the stay itself was amazing due to the bedding and the fantastic shower.
