Absolute gem of a place. Ideally located to break up journey from Wellington to North. Good rest spot before the Desert Road. Smart tv's with every channel of sky - recordable. I watched live sport and wife recorded her programme. Expected it to be noisy but surprisingly not. Double glazing clearly works. Upgraded from the double room as was just tea & coffee room and no sink or benchtop to speak of. As he said though it is advertised as a room with an ensuite. Studio Unit was fully equipped and a damn comfy bed, had a great night's sleep and lie in with the block out curtains Shower domes. Plenty of parking off road and across from the police station. Felt very safe. . Just a bloody good place, at a bargain price and a nice chap to deal with. Thanks for the stay and chat my namesake. Wil be back.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed - we both slept well. Surprisingly quiet considering it's on State Highway 1 - we didn't hear much traffic noise. Good free wifi. good value. While the property could do with a paint job to freshen up - it didn't worry us as the property was clean and comfortable.

Lovely little house, I loved the design and the careful little touches. I loved having a little block of chocolate left for us by the host!

Very clean place. Having a hard and a soft pillow each was good. The mini fridge, jug, microwave and tea and coffee provided were a nice touch. Shower pressure was amazing, almost painful. Since we're introverts, we really appreciated the privacy, hosts didn't coming to chat us up, though they would have been in the flat below if we had needed anything. Very clear instructions on how to get in etc. Beautiful view (though unfortunately there's a tree in front of the mountain, not that the hosts could do anything about that). Nice spot overall.

My baby and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about Waiouru. We were at the Oasis motel which is across the road from the Z gas station and next to a Diner, bakery, bar & bottle store which breaks off from the motel but still far away from the rooms. A bit secluded but love how everything’s so close and the nice cold weather.

Location was good, quite. Cafe/eatery at southern end of town would benefit from better customer service. Food overpriced but ok for satisfying hunger. Public toilets clean and well maintained.

Whole town needs a good lick of paint. Needs to make more of its opportunities. Has huge amount of traffic, but to be honest, not much street appeal. You wouldn't stay unless you were there for a purpose. Such a shame

The town seems run down but it suited us to stop for the night as everywhere else that was a reasonable price was booked out. We had our own food and arrived late as we'd driven up from the ferry in Wellington so it was great to have a motel with a kitchen. Didn't visit anywhere as we left early next morning.

Small but quaint town. Absolutely loved staying here.. Has everything you need for a night or 2. Conveniently located. The Italian place has the best huuuuuge meals for a great price. The pub was lacking staff, so no food but still nice to get a beer and a game off pool. Plenty to do and see in the area and lots of exploring to be had especially with an off road vehicle.
