Located in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Skotel Alpine Resort offers a restaurant, a hot tub and a terrace bar with a fireplace. Most accommodations features stunning mountain or region views.... Beautiful hotel. Very good restaurant. Diner and breakfast were very good. Nice cosy place with toys for the kids above the restaurant. It was very appreciated. Friendly staff. Fantastic view. Great location.
Set in National Park, 31 mi from Turangi, Alpine Chalets offers a garden and free WiFi. Room and bed are spacious and comfy. Owners are super friendly and helpful. We have arived in late hours to check in and they left heat pump on, so room was warm when we came. We will for sure stay at The Alpine Chalets again
National Park Backpackers in National Park has a garden and barbecue facilities. The accommodations offers a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and luggage storage for guests. Great hostel: nice building, very convenient, with a big and well equipped kitchen and a climbing wall! Plus, super friendly and helpful staff. This is the place to be in National Park!
Ruapehu Retreat is a spacious and self-catering holiday home located in National Park. It is set in a convenient location for guests to explore the Tongariro National Park and wider Ruapehu region. We did Alpine crossing and the shuttle stop was very close. Also, grocery and restaurant are just next doors. Easy to get into the house. Kitchen is very well equipped. Want to come back again.
I come to Whakapapa Village at this time each year to take part in the Tussock Traverse which is the highlight of my year! Wouldn't miss it for anything - such an amazing event in such a fabulous location.
Whakapapa village was great. With kids it was just as well we took plenty of snack foods that they like, as there aren't any food shops - which is part of its beauty. I loved that there are soo many different walks you can do, as well as the skiing option of course.
Checked in with the team at DOC before doing the Tongariro Crossing .Extremely helpful.Ate at the Ruapehu Rm excellent choice of meals great breakfast range (toaster is slow)cafe great leek soup, High tea in the lounge very memorable .comfortable beds great amenities loved the stay . Great staff
Easy to walk around. Scenery lovely, although we didn't get to see the top of mountain , Doc centre most interesting, and great walks. Drove to ' top of the bruce' and will be back to experience gondola next year.
the Chateau is always a great surprise to see when you turn up the road that leads up to it. You know its there & it maintains it welcoming view right up until you turn that last corner & bang there it is ! Always a welcoming sight after a long drive.
The visitor information Centre were great providing advice and guidance. The walks around the village a good. It is a winter place so in summer a number of the restaurants are closed and for this summer 2018/2019, the construction of the new Gondala at the top of the mountain is a pain with limited access and trails closed till June 2019.
it was my first stay i loved it
