FAQs about hotels in Muscat

The Middle East’s Best Kept Secret

An enchanting Arabic jewel, Muscat was already an important port in the 1st century. With a strict building code that imposes respect to heights and styles, the city has developed a harmonized and traditional look that makes it irresistible. Don’t miss the traditional Muttrah Souq marketplace, considered one of the best in the region.

The city is actually composed of three towns: Muscat is the walled Old Town where royal palaces are located; Muttrah includes the old and new harbours and the Corniche seafront; and Ruwi is the commercial and diplomatic area. Check out the Muscat hotels map on Booking.com and choose your preferred location!

The city is surrounded by the Western Al Hajar Mountains, and the crystalline waters and sandy beaches of the Arabian Sea. Staying in a Muscat hotel on the beach is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Gulf of Oman views.

The modern and elegant Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the largest in the world. Don’t miss the twin forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani, and the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace.

Loved my stay in Muscat, but would plan not to go in September, it’s just too hot to do anything during the day. The people are lovely from the time you step off the plane, until you depart at the end of your visit. One of the safest countries to be for a single female traveller

People are friendly, there is plenty of facilities in the city. you can enjoy lot of touristic places such as mutrah, jebel akhdar,.... there is few beaches in the city where you can relax. we liked the beach in Qurum, it was always excellent to visit. There is many malls where you can eat and shop.

If you are only visiting the north end of Oman 2 weeks is sufficient & will save you from paying for a 30 day visa on arrival. If I went again I would go between the months of October to March when it is cooler. I am a morning person but it was just too hot to get outside between the hours of 8am till 4pm unless going to a shopping centre. The shopping centres are beautiful in Muscat, but there is only so much you can do. The variety of cuisines in Muscat is amazing with Iraqi, Yemini, Turkish, Chinese, Pakistani/Desi as well as Omani food. People are wonderful from the time you step off the plane, even the immigration officers smile & welcome you to Oman. I had people pay my bus fare because I didn’t have the right notes for the driver. The only negative I have is that Muscat & the suburbs are not pedestrian friendly. There might be dusty tracks beside a road but only corniches, parks & private communities ( like Al Mouj) have nice walkways. You may have to walk 2 blocks out of your way to find some traffic lights which will react to pedestrians.

Muscat is a delightful destination offering a rich tapestry of cultural landmarks and natural beauty. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque stands as a testament to Islamic architecture, welcoming visitors with its grandeur and serenity. For those seeking artistic experiences, the Royal Opera House Muscat offers world-class performances in a stunning setting. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the tranquil Qurum Beach and the lush Qurum Natural Park, perfect for relaxation and leisurely walks. The bustling Mutrah Souq provides a glimpse into Oman's trading history, while the nearby Mutrah Corniche offers scenic coastal views. Whether you're exploring historical sites or enjoying the city's natural landscapes, Muscat promises a memorable experience.

The airport experience was one of the best I have ever had for ease and simplicity to both enter and exit the country. The roads were extremely safe to drive on and our hotel was just excellent. The Chedi even if expensive for some is worth every penny if you are looking for a relaxing location.

A very lovely hotel and very helpful staff. We felt very welcome and everything was up to expectations. We enjoyed the facilities and everyone was very approachable in terms of staff. Rooms spacious and cleaned on a daily basis. If we come back to Oman we will definitely stay at City Seasons again. We loved Oman, highly recommend City Seasons hotel. The rooms infront of the street were slightly noisy but we were given other rooms facing the inside of the hotel and that was amazing

Great breakfast (Manu was really good!), a lot of different restaurants to eat dinner, stunning location (we even saw turtles), very very clean rooms (thanks to Aziz and Bhanu). A place we would love to come back. Also the service at the pool and on the beach was outstanding. We got fresh water (including an evian facial spray), cold towels to refresh, fruits, etc. We were in different 5 Star hotels in Oman but no hotel was better than Shangri-La regarding the small little things.

This is a new small hotel very well located a short walk from the old Muscat souq and just below one of the old watch towers which it lit up at night. The rooms are decorated as a traditional Omani house and there is a cafe on the roof - and the traditional Omani breakfast was a great treat! This is an excellent starting point for a trip around Oman. The beach resort hotels are also very nice but crazy expensive and far from the old town.
