I checked into Hotel Bocas Town… a charming 4-story boutique hotel overlooking both the main street and the ocean. It was a warm welcome and exactly what I had been hoping for. From the moment I walked in, I was enamoured with it, and the lady who ran the hotel was nothing short of delightful. I liked it here and I got a good vibe. My bright blue room was everything beach boutique should be. Inviting. Likeable. Cute. I was enchanted. It was good feels.

Bird Island Bungalows, Divers Paradise Boutique Hotel, and The Lighthouse at Casa Max are some of the popular hotels in Bocas Town.
Bocas Town was ok, a bit smallish. Mostly cafes, restaurants and many tours being offered. The beaches were nice, but some of the popular ones were REALLY crowded...too crowded. Luckily, there were other areas to swim without the crowds. I was staying on Carenero Island...absolutely stunning, and not nearly as crowded. The pics I have attached are from Carenero Island.
Horrible place nothing they had to offer us. Not clean, everything broken and filty dirty. Hot water to shower was on for 1 day then cold the rest of my stay. No ice maker for a cold drink nothing. My 1st day on arrival my towel was ripped up given to me like that. What a Embarrassing moment. Only 1 trash can instead of 2 in each areas. I wished it had a mini refrigerator to store food, drinks we buy. Everything had to sit out and spoiled. You guys should refund me my money.
Bocas always makes me happy. The ambiance of the island is really laid back. Honestly, Bocas is whatever you make of it. It can be a place where you go get drunk and enjoy amazing parties or it can be very chill with amazing locations and lots of places to visit and things to do. I would recommend to pack yourself with cash before you go and, if you go to a restaurant that accept cards, take advantage of that and just use cash. Getting around is pretty easy, there's a bunch of guys ready to help you go anywhere you want to go and prices are the same with almost everyone except for some that might bring it down $5. Not that big of a deal. If it's your first time, do the Cayo Zapatilla tour and then the Bastimentos tour. For other visits, just go to near by beaches like Carenero or Bluff beach. I personally don't enjoy Playa Estrella (Star Fish Beach) or Red Frog, but you could try that I guess. Just go to Bocas. It's amazing. Expensive, but amazing.
Love the atmosphere and the island lifestyle of Bocas del Toreo. Foto Solarte and Bastimientios, not to forget Zapatillas! I very much enjoyed my stay and missed out on nothing. That said, I subjectively believe that during this epidemic, Panamenians put too much stress on taking the tourists money rather than sharing their culture and love for nature. Hardcore Capitalists.
The town is a party town for college kids and that sort of nonsense but if you use Boacas town as a launchpad to see other places it's fine. Taking time on the other islands is wonderful and serene. So know that is you stay in some places in Bocas town ---especially guest houses, you are in a neighborhood where locals live and for me..this was the best part. It may not be for everyone but I met wonderful people and they gave me FREE tours showing me the place, invited me for food. That was the best part. Bocas town is for party kids but use it as a launchpad and see the other -more quiet islands and you will be fine. Could have stayed about 4 to 5 more days just to get to see things a bit more ..VERY SAFE Place police EVERYWHERE too. locals and tourism sector workers are so friendly and very helpful. it was wonderful.
I have been to many places around the world and Bocas del Toro is the most magical place I have ever been! It is filled with beautiful beaches, jungle, and other rich natural beauty. You can take day trips to other islands, go snorkeling, kayaking, enjoy the many restaurants and bars, etc. It is also rich with a wonderful sense of community, and a wide array of people from all over the world. You do not need to speak Spanish in order to get by, although it is definitely helpful. Currently, the economy is hurting due to a major decrease in tourism. However this is a benefit to the tourists that do come during this time, as it is more peaceful and you will be able to get lower prices than usual. You can fly in to Panama City and take the Air Panama flight into Bocas, where the airport is very centrally located to Bocas Town. Highly recommended!
I had an emergency while traveling. My companion DIED. Everyone on the island knew. The Staff at Playa Tortuga treated me like family- they were each and every one of them SO KIND! They checked in with me, helped me with papers, when I had to go to the morgue the receptionist was like, oh no, you can’t do that alone. And went with me. And held my hand. I’ve never had better treatment at a hotel. The beach proximity and pools, restaurant bar looked fun. It’s a little far from the center, but that was good thing.
It’s a beautiful resort located in a beautiful location, but this once a three or four star resort is heading towards two and half maybe two star hotel, it seems the owner of this property has been just taking the profits and not returning anything back as resort feels tired and falling in disrepair, The only restaurant on the resort offers limited items on the menu with mediocre quality and service.
Bocas Town
Ania was an incredible host and her property is wonderful! Right on the water, spotlessly clean and only a $1 short water taxi to the town. There are also some great restaurants and bars within walking distance. I loved sitting on the deck and relaxing by the water and it was wonderful to fall asleep to the waves outside my window each night. The air conditioning was a welcomed and necessary luxury!
This is one of the cutest "small" hotels that I've ever been to. Rooms are nice and always clean, and the front desk lady ( Sasha) was the highlight of our trip- always with a smile on her face and so helpful. Water and laundry service ( for a small fee - they washed two full bags of our clothes for 7 dollars!!!) have been nice "extra."
Bocas Town
Great hosts, super friendly and willing to help with anything to make your stay comfortable. We used the bikes to get into town which was awesome, but also could walk easily! Our room was super cute and really clean. Breakfast was unreal! We were only stopping in bocas town coming back from staying on Bastimentos, but the one night we had we really enjoyed.
Bocas Town
Such a beautiful place to stay in! The terrace is terrific and the hosts are just wonderful. They made us feel so very welcome from the first minute onwards. The location is a 15-20 minutes walk from bocas town which we liked because it was calm and at the same time the center was still easy to reach. Wish we could have stayed longer!
The rooms are pretty The stuff nice The location is directly in the heart of Bocas town We’d enjoyed our salsa class The sunrise from our window was amazing (towards Solate and Bastimentos) Hot showers Bar next to the channel between Carenero and Colon
Bocas Town
