Selina Red Frog is part of the Isla Bastimentos Natural Park. The hostel has an outdoor pool and sun terrace, and guests can enjoy a drink at the bar. The location is wonderful: in the middle of the rainforest and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The nearest beach is very nice and there are more within 1h walk, easy to access. The room was very clean and someone came in each day to make them up. The common kitchen is good. The fact of having a kitchen was the reason I booked.

Compared to many other tired looking hotels we walked by on the way from the airport, this hotel was visibly clean, well maintained and entirely freshly renovated. The steps, walls, tiles, floor and wall coverings were as though it had just been built and opened as new. The location is far enough from the party areas that it was nicely quiet for sleeping.

Many families visiting Bocas Town loved staying at La Coralina Island House, Dolphin Blue Paradise, and Hospedaje Yarisnori.
I've traveled numerous times to Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala and this is my first time to Panama. Bocas town is pretty dirty. There was a nice restaurant Coco Fastronomy that had delicious Ceviche on the water. I will not be returning to Panama as it didn't have a friendly or clean vibe. I don't know if this is because the Pandemic hit everyone hard but I've never tried to smile so much in my life and say hola and not get smiles back and felt unsafe.
Bocas Town was ok, a bit smallish. Mostly cafes, restaurants and many tours being offered. The beaches were nice, but some of the popular ones were REALLY crowded...too crowded. Luckily, there were other areas to swim without the crowds. I was staying on Carenero Island...absolutely stunning, and not nearly as crowded. The pics I have attached are from Carenero Island.
Horrible place nothing they had to offer us. Not clean, everything broken and filty dirty. Hot water to shower was on for 1 day then cold the rest of my stay. No ice maker for a cold drink nothing. My 1st day on arrival my towel was ripped up given to me like that. What a Embarrassing moment. Only 1 trash can instead of 2 in each areas. I wished it had a mini refrigerator to store food, drinks we buy. Everything had to sit out and spoiled. You guys should refund me my money.
Bocas always makes me happy. The ambiance of the island is really laid back. Honestly, Bocas is whatever you make of it. It can be a place where you go get drunk and enjoy amazing parties or it can be very chill with amazing locations and lots of places to visit and things to do. I would recommend to pack yourself with cash before you go and, if you go to a restaurant that accept cards, take advantage of that and just use cash. Getting around is pretty easy, there's a bunch of guys ready to help you go anywhere you want to go and prices are the same with almost everyone except for some that might bring it down $5. Not that big of a deal. If it's your first time, do the Cayo Zapatilla tour and then the Bastimentos tour. For other visits, just go to near by beaches like Carenero or Bluff beach. I personally don't enjoy Playa Estrella (Star Fish Beach) or Red Frog, but you could try that I guess. Just go to Bocas. It's amazing. Expensive, but amazing.
Love the atmosphere and the island lifestyle of Bocas del Toreo. Foto Solarte and Bastimientios, not to forget Zapatillas! I very much enjoyed my stay and missed out on nothing. That said, I subjectively believe that during this epidemic, Panamenians put too much stress on taking the tourists money rather than sharing their culture and love for nature. Hardcore Capitalists.
The town is a party town for college kids and that sort of nonsense but if you use Boacas town as a launchpad to see other places it's fine. Taking time on the other islands is wonderful and serene. So know that is you stay in some places in Bocas town ---especially guest houses, you are in a neighborhood where locals live and for me..this was the best part. It may not be for everyone but I met wonderful people and they gave me FREE tours showing me the place, invited me for food. That was the best part. Bocas town is for party kids but use it as a launchpad and see the other -more quiet islands and you will be fine. Could have stayed about 4 to 5 more days just to get to see things a bit more ..VERY SAFE Place police EVERYWHERE too. locals and tourism sector workers are so friendly and very helpful. it was wonderful.
Bocas Town
Breakfast was great! The garden is very pretty and the accommodation itself as well. The location is very good, just a few minutes by taxi to Bocas Town which has a lot to offer. The pool is great and there is a small beach opposite the B&B. Kathe and Martin were great hosts. We were not feeling well during our stay unfortunately (nothing to do with the location) and they mad sure we could still enjoy our stay. Stayed here for 3 nights, but we recommend to stay at least for 4 nights since there is so much to do and to see in the area.
Bocas Town
On the first night i ate at the restaurant and within 30 minutes had violent food poisoning. I was stuck in the hotel bed for 2 days and had to extend my stay in order to get better. I told over 3 different staff members and all of them ignored me and walked off. I was not offered a refund nor was anything done to remedy the situation. I was not even refunded for the meal that made me sick. I had to change my flights and attend the doctor and it ended up costing me significantly. I will not be returning to this place ever.
Bocas Town
There are only 4 rooms (2 downstairs, 2 upstairs) all with a great view over the water facing Bocas Town. A $1 boat taxi brings you there in minutes which is really a pro (as that is where most shops are and tours depart). JP and Mandy are great hosts that do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Enjoy great breakfasts in the common open air sitting / dining room / kitchen, relax at your own veranda/balcony in front of your room or swim around (or under) the hotel (good snorkeling).
Bocas Town
We really enjoyed Riva, its a hidden gem. We felt we were miles away from Bocas town even though it was just a little 3 minute boat journey away. We loved everything about the place, from how clean everything is, the beds were amazing and all private, the views in every direction, the water on the property is full of colorful fish and starfish, the breakfast was amazing and most of all, the owners who were very kind and accommodating.
Bocas Town
This hostel is less than a block from where the ferry docks so sea views are abundant without the up charges for being right on the water. A walk to a beach to swim/beginner surf or dine in an inexpensive but delicious fonda is 15 min. Between people attending the Spanish school and regular hostel guests who are diving, surfing, or otherwise touring, this is a very international experience. There is a great youthful vibe.
Very nice staff, we had to deal with quite a lot of problems but they've sloved it all correctly. Selina is on the main road in Bocas Town and very easy to find. Lots of restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood. It has a kitchen with refrigerator for the guests so you can prepare your own food and eat it there.
The remote location is fantastic and to be right on the water in the middle of nowhere is a very nice experience. You can jump directly into the water from your doorstep and see all kinds of fish with the snorkel equipment provided. The actual room is very nice and pretty well equipped with bottles of water etc.
Location, location!!! Everything is within walking distance to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They provided suggestions in where to eat and even allowed us to drop off our bags early prior to check in.
New modern hotel right over the water, fantastic views and large outdoor restaurant area with full bar. Staff very friendly and several spoke English. Large spotless rooms.
Hotel is super clean. Well maintained. Has aircon and refrigerator. Fast wifi. Very close to everything.
it’s beautiful located on the water the views air conditioning was great
