Many families visiting Contadora loved staying at Contadora Island Inn, Hotel Gerald and Mar Y Oro.
Contadora Island Inn, Hotel Gerald and Villa Condesa Del Mar are some of the popular hotels in Contadora.
These hotels in Contadora are highly rated by couples: Contadora Island Inn, Villa Condesa Del Mar and Hotel Gerald.
Villa Condesa Del Mar, Mar Y Oro and Contadora Island Inn have received great reviews from travellers in Contadora regarding the views from their hotel rooms.
Contadora Island is beautiful and very safe. The whitish, sandy beaches, and transparent to turquoise water are splendid. The disadvantages are the relatively high ratio of the cost of hotels relative to facilities. Food is very expensive. Restaurants charge European type food prices. In most of the US you would pay less for the meals served on Contadora. Fresh fruit is relatively hard to get on Contadora. If we return to Contadora we will bring fresh fruit and other food from Panama City.
The onsite dining facility (stunning view of the beach and nearby islands) and good food) and complementary breakfast were fabulous. Pleased to have an early morning gratus coffee before breakfast was being served. We ate at a couple nearby restaurants a few blocks away....easy walking distance. Casa Tortuga (Italian) is a dining experience not to be passed up! We walked everywhere but golf cart rentals looked like fun too. White sand beach was perfect 'front yard.'
The Island is a beautiful paradise. Full of wildlife in land and sea. Great place to go inshore and offshore fishing, diving, snorkeling and whale watching. Its a fairly small island with main roads in good conditions which makes moving around fairly easy. Given the chance to rent a golf cart, do it. (Its worth it if you plan to visit all the beaches because "taxi" service could cost between $5-$10 per trip which is ridiculous considering the size of the island). There are 3 supermarkets in the island, although the goods are expensive. Most restaurants are expensive too. Expect to pay city prices or more in some restaurants. I would recommend to visit playa la ejecutiva and playa sueca. The best restaurant quality/price is pimienta y sal (for seafood, ceviche and fried fish).
Its an island we come to enjoy the beaches sun and family its quiet and relaxing it seems to get more run down each visit Best Place to eat is Clarita 😁😁 Get a golf cart and explore if relaxing is what you are looking for Contadora is for you
We loved our stay on Contadora. There we saw some of the most beautiful beaches we saw during our stay in Panama. Gerald was a wonderful host and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant. He provided transportation to and from the ferry (which was a great thing because you would not want to walk with luggage!). The onsite restaurant was wonderful staffed with very friendly staff. Breakfast and lunch were very reasonable. Dinner a little more $$ however extremely good with very large portions. The pasta with langostins was enough for two! In town, the mini-mart/duty free market has a little restaurant that sells excellent empanadas and the best mixed seafood ceviche we have ever had!! Neat little shop that sells bathing suits, soda, sunblock and alcohol. Not cheap but very convenient. Recommend - Galleon Beach for snorkeling. A little rocky but found some interesting sea glass there. Able to get cold beer there and there is a nice restaurant and showers for rinsing off. Cacique Beach is the calmest and prettiest but very $$. $30 to rent a chair and umbrella. Water very calm. Largo Beach is beautiful and very private. There is an abandoned resort and an abundance of deer all around. However, there are no amenities. There was one other "tiny" issue about Largo----don't know if it is the tide, the current or the time of day, but when we went swimming there, we kept getting bit by teeny, tiny crabs. Did not hurt but became rather annoying. Several beaches on the island do not have public access but there still plenty to choose from.
It is a beautiful island with a lot of charm. It's really laid back, but that's what we were looking for on this trip. The beaches are amazing and very beautiful. Some have services , but most do not. I would say to reant a golf cart if you stay more than a few days.
Great hosts! Bryan and Cristina were full of helpful information and incredibly nice, pleasant people. We traveled midweek and during the rainy season...the tranquility and lack of crowds was perfect for a relaxing retreat. The beach right next to the hotel was empty and picturesque, except for the plastic trash that washed ashore! Stop being so lazy and gross, humans!! :))
Contadora

The island is nice with 3-4 cool beaches and there are other islands in the archipelago worth visiting. Andres did the welcome very well and was available throughout the stay in case we needed. The house is quite nice but doesn't get beyond the minimum level of service.
