Located in El Valle de Antón, Hostal lopez el valle has a shared lounge, garden, BBQ area, and free WiFi. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. The two-room suite had plenty of space for four people and included a sink, refrigerator and coffee maker. There was a patio for enjoying coffee in the morning and a hammock for an afternoon nap. I would highly recommend this conveniently located, yet very peaceful, guesthouse.
Located in Valle de Anton in the Cocle region, La Casita de El Valle features a terrace and river views. A lovely house, well furnished, big bedrooms, and a great bed. Fantastic breakfast. Good price! And a very nice and friendly host. We will certainly come back next time!
Needed more time to wander to the various "points of interest" - would recommend three days. Interesting artisan stores. Very nice retail lady in the store I believe was called David. Walk down millionaires row is worth the time. Be sure to have small change when you shop at the fruit/veg market or you may not get your change back. Rey is a great store for anything you may need. Drive back "downhill" is beautiful. Two restaurants - dona nella (lunch) and Zor?? both came recommended by the B&B and were excellent. B&B Breakfast very good and maybe too big. Getting around was easy with a map provided by the B&B.
We hiked up the Sleeping Indian Trail and best to leave early before the sun is too hot. Take your bathing suit and enjoy a nice dip in ine of the swimming holes close to the bottom. Zip lining is fun too. I have been to El Valle twice and think it is the nicest part of Panama as it is a wonderful temperature and so beautiful.
The Canopy Adventure is a must for young people. The marketplace is also a must for everyone. I only stayed one night but there is more to do for a whole weekend. Very easy to drive around but also great for bickers and bikers. The Valle Verde restaurant/hotel has great Peruvian food (seafood especilaties). Avoid the drive up or down to El Valle at night from the Panamerican Highway because it is dangerous.
The climate is much cooler than that of the lowlands of Panama. And there is a pretty constant breeze that keeps it cool. The town seems to be pretty active with people always walking around to the market or to eat or just to socialize. The roads getting there are very windy and some are pretty steep. I've read that it's about 45 minutes from San Carlos or Coronado but expect to take an hour to be safe. Also watch for walkers and bikers on the roads, especially around curves.
This is a small property, 5 minute walk from the main street in El Valle. It is very well kept with a beautiful garden. The room is cozy and clean.
