Gierloz is better known to those with an interest in WW2 as Gorlitz, the site just out of the town of Rastenburg, now known as Ketryzn, where Hitler had his Eastern Front HQ - the Wolf's Lair. There is little else there apart from the WW2 ruins. However, the area in within thw Masurian Lakes district which is very picturesque and well worth a visit.
