Tykocin is beautiful, steeped in history.
Tykocin is beautiful, steeped in history. It was the king's seat, and the castle once housed an armory, which, interestingly enough, houses 30,000 saddles and harnesses for horse riding. Tykocin is a must-see. Stefan Czarniecki and his starosty await, shackled in a monument. It's impossible to be bored: a beautiful promenade along the Narew River is perfect for strolling. Henryk

The town is beautiful and worth seeing.
The town is beautiful and worth seeing. We were surprised that the synagogue was closed on May 1st. Besides the synagogue, it's worth visiting the castle and walking around the town (not just the market square), especially with children. I found a monastery (now a nursing home), a windmill, playgrounds, an educational trail by the school, and atmospheric cottages.

A very pleasant little town.
A very pleasant little town. Perfect for trips to the nearby National Parks (Białowieża, Biebrza, and Narew). A wonderful base for those traveling the "U Pana Boga..." trail.

A nice, atmospheric town, perfect for a short one-day stay. NOTE: It's best to eat dinner in Białystok before arriving. We were unlucky because two of the three restaurants in town were booked, and the last one was so crowded that we didn't have time to eat before closing and had to drive 25 km back to Białystok to get something decent. Other than that, the rest was okay.

I admit that before our planned trip, we knew nothing about Tykocin. Now we know – it's a beautiful, exceptionally interesting town. It has a lot to offer. We didn't know it had so many significant historical sites and events. Not to mention the fact that the oldest Polish decoration, the White Eagle, was established there! An educational trail along the Narew River was also recently completed – bravo!

A charming town with attractive monuments and delicious food...
A charming town with attractive monuments and delicious food. The castle and synagogue are worth visiting, as is a river cruise. Beautiful markets and natural surroundings are also a must. I recommend the Villa Regent restaurant and a guided boat trip on the Narew River.
