Stretched along the Oder River in southwest Poland, Wroclaw still remains a relatively undiscovered gem. The city’s stunning architecture, its vibrant cultural scene and popular events have something for everyone.
Severely destroyed in 1945, Wroclaw was beautifully restored and became one of the country’s highlights. Its Old Town, with one of the largest town squares in Europe, attracts tourists with colorful townhouses, cozy pubs and street stalls.
Make sure to visit the Ostrow Tumski, known also as the Cathedral Island, featuring the impressive Wroclaw Cathedral from the mid-10th century and romantic cobblestone streets with oil lamps hand-lit every night. Or visit a famous 360-degree view painting of the Battle of Raclawice - the Raclawice Panorama.
For a breath of fresh air, take a walk in the Szczytnicki Park where the famous Japanese Garden, a remainder from the World Expo held in Wroclaw in 1913, awaits you with its contemplative and quiet atmosphere. This is a great spot to relax before hitting the popular bars and clubs in the center of the city.
If you arrive at Wroclaw International Airport, all major attractions are just a short bus ride away. Whether you're looking for a stylish hotel, a comfortable apartment or a friendly hostel, Booking.com has something perfect for your Wroclaw vacation!
What a great place to visit. We loved sitting in a cafe at night and watching the locals complete their evening stroll around the rynek. Lots of good choices for restaurants. As Americans we found the food and drink prices to be very reasonable. Lots to see and do and not enough time to do it all. Day trips to nearby sites such as a castle are within a reasonable drive. We like this city much more than Krakow because of its intimacy.
Wroclaw is possibly a hidden gem, it's a really beautiful city (around the Rynek and Ostrow Tumski areas). We took a walk around some of the back streets and stumbled across some unexpected discoveries. As well as the Rynek it's worth walking through the university area to Ostrow Tumski and the Botanical Gardens. For eating I can recommend Konspira, just off Plac Solny and for a very unhealthy snack the donut shop on Kuźnicza. The only negative we experienced is that the price of the taxi from the airport was double the price of the taxi going in the opposite direction, I'm not sure if it's possible but next time I'd look into pre-booking a taxi from the airport to avoid getting ripped off.
This was our first visit to this beautiful city. Obviously, 1,5 days is way too little time to get to know Wroclaw. It has a wide net of comfortable public transport. Also rent of bikes and scooters is available. We visited the city center, which is absolutely charming. Collected photos of a few dozen of Wroclaw Dwarves. The main aim of our visit was a Zoo, which is the biggest in Poland. And I should say it's amazing, and I would return to visit it again.
Breslau or Wroclaw is the small city in Poland but with full of surprises. I am fall in love with this city on the first sight. This place provide you full of history , culinary and of course Pub and nightlife in the middle of Old City. What I love the most from this city is calmness and cleanliness . Enjoy Wroclaw and you will get unforgettable Memories here in the City of Meeting.
amazing zoo, wonderful botanic garden, prices in cafes are ok. rather close to several castles to have one day excursions. if you visit during fountain season, evening show on Hala Stólecia are must see, but check the schedule
A charming, albeit heavily bombed during the war and rebuilt, city with plenty to see and do for a couple of days. Plenty of bars and restaurants. We did three guided walks and should probably not have done two in one day. A feature of Wroclaw is the little dwarf statues everywhere. I have no idea why people find them so interesting. Wroclaw has plenty of history. Before 1945 it was in Germany and called Breslau. People were very friendly. The yellow palace gallery in the centre had plenty to see in it. The Town Hall is lovely outside but not so much to see inside.
