Pousada Castelo de Alvito is a renovated 15th century castle in the village of Alvito, with superb gardens and a swimming pool. A gorgeous old castle and pousada with a garden full of orange trees in blossom and giant cypresses and sycamores. Add to that the breathtaking scenery of Portugal’s countryside that you go through to get there and it is a trip that must be made. Absolutely perfect !
Located in Alvito, 41 km from Alqueva, Horta da Rosa - Adults Only provides a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and free WiFi. Me and Amy just stayed for 1 night. The place is beautiful, very quiet and the swimming pool is excellent. Perfect to relax and enjoy the good weather of Alentejo. There are little villages nearly with great traditional restaurants. Kurt, Sandra and their friendly dog were excellent hosts and cooked a nice buffet breakfast for us which included super fresh apricots picked from one of their trees. Definitely recommend and looking forward to returning.
a delightful village in a calm environment- for a break it was wonderful. we overnighted there en route to the central region of Portugal. For that it was an easy stop. We could have spent a few more days there, relaxing, especially if it had not been lockdown
Alvito would be my first choice if I was writing a book and wanted some peace and quiet. We ate in the Pousada resturaunt and the meal was excellent, good service and beautifully cooked. We are not a young couple and have traveled the world and this stay was one we definitely will remember with fond memories and a desire to return again.
Where to start?...this hotel has presence, staying here is an occasion!....we intended to check in and head for Evora for the afternoon....but the pool gardens bar and games room caught us and we changed plans on the fly!....we will definitely visit again
Excellent hosts and gorgeous property! Breakfast was delicious. Had dinner in Alvito and the food was very affordable and plentiful, perfect location for a quick break in the Alentejo or if you are travelling through.
