Set 2.6 km from Calheta Beach, Seasky Arco offers an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. The apartment was great: spacious, clean, fully equipped, and with a large balcony! The best location, amazing views and ocean is just under your balcony. Everything was in excellent condition. We would be very happy to stay here again and would really recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable stay.
Located in Arco da Calheta, 1.6 km from Calheta Beach, Quinta Golfinho offers accommodation with free WiFi, a patio or a balcony and access to a garden and an outdoor pool. Offering an outdoor pool, Casa Caminho Verde is located in Arco da Calheta. Free WiFi access is available in this farm stay. Featuring a shower, private bathroom also comes with a hairdryer. We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Camino Verde! The property is located fairly high and offers a quiet location with stunning views of the sea and amazing sunsets. We stayed in a one bedroom Palheiro (small house) with a full kitchen and a balcony with those great views and we were amazed to have a daily cleaning service and breakfast included. We didn’t expect that with self-catering accommodation. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful and there was something different every day - all of it freshly prepared in the morning: freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit salad, fresh eggs and always something sweet like pancakes or French toast. Lydia and her team are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them! We can highly recommend staying here if you enjoy nature and peace and quiet.
Set 2.5 km from Calheta Beach, Teixeira House offers a terrace, and accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. The apartment is spacious, very clean and perfectly equipped. The terrace is amazing with some beautiful views of the sea and a lot of seating space. We were given some treats upon arrival and the host also recommended us where to go for dinner in the area. Overall very pleasant experience, we would definitely stay here again.
Situated just 1.9 km from Calheta Beach, Casa Lira features accommodation in Arco da Calheta with access to a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a bar, as well as a 24-hour front desk. What’s not to like! The home was incredibly beautiful, the rooms were very well appointed with lovely bedding and many luxury towels, and of course the pool and pool table were wonderful touches. The view from the deck and summer kitchen were incomparable and we had one of the best nights ever using the indoor charcoal BBQ making a nice steak dinner, admiring the view and drinking wine! We would be remiss if we did not mention the hospitality provided by Fátima herself. The treats, food, beverages and fresh flowers in every room made this the most amazing experience at an Airbnb the four of us have ever had. We can absolutely guarantee you will not be disappointed with Casa Lira!
Featuring a garden and a terrace, Casa das Camélias features accommodation in Arco da Calheta with free WiFi and sea views. Guests staying at this country house have access to a balcony. Lovely host, very quiet area, spacious apartment, very clean. Thank you. Hare Krishna :)
Situated in Arco da Calheta in the Madeira Islands region and Calheta Beach reachable within 1.6 km, Casa Serena Apartments features accommodation with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a garden and free... Casa Serena apartment was a restful haven and retreat for tired travelers. We were there for three nights. The kitchen, dining/living area, and bedroom each has direct access to the patio and its breathtaking view. We drove in minutes to the Calheta-based H2O whale watching adventure as well as the walks on the Levada das 25 Fontes e Risco within about 30 minutes. We chose to return to the apartment to cook our own dinners each night, soaking up the solitude and beauty of the slopes and the sea below. Helen and her husband were wonderful hosts. They were so kind to welcome us with a bottle of wine and a basket of fresh fruit.
Arco da Calheta was very easy to reach along the main highway from the airport and Funchal. It is about a 5 minute drive to the beach. Calheta beach has sand, which has been imported, and has breakwaters that mean it is safe to swim even in windy weather. There is a pleasant marina and various companies offering whale and dolphin watching trips. We had a great trip and saw numerous pilot whales. We would definitely return to the area.
Car hire is recommended although there are a few local shop and cafés/bars in walking distance and great for a light snack or a few bits of shopping, including bread at the Fruit & Veg shop. Approx. 5 minute drive you have a bigger supermarket which sells most things including fresh bread and has a wider choice. It is in walking distance if you do not mind a hill to climb and about 30 minute walk in the village of Lorento. They also have a local Pizza Restaurant, Naya, which we tried but found very expensive especially for a basic pizza. We loved the local Poncha bar called Avelino, this is worth visiting but only open in the evenings. Also locally you have Paragliding and we could see them from our Villa, not that we tired it ourselves!
Arco is a lovely village set high above Calheta, there’s a great supermarket for self catering which is very cheap, there’s a coffee shop attached with amazing views. Calheta down on the shore is ok, there’s quite a nice beach most of the resort was closed due to a clifffall while we were there so didn’t see all of it.
Remote area so you must have a car to travel. About 30 min to Funchal which has abundant shopping and restaurants. There are restaurants much closer and the food was excellent there as well, but infinitely more variety in Funchal.
very small area, nothing to do in the evening. It was not even possible to make a walk in the evening because it was quite dangerous. you have to walk on the street ,there are no foothpaths. (nearly nowhere in smaller towns in Madeira). You really need a car to see something of the island.
From Calheta you can drive to every corner of the island. We liked most the hike from pico Arieiro to pico Ruivo. The hike to Ponto san Lourenco,, dolphin watching in Calheta, Jardim do Mar a litte village for surfing and also great hisoric pavement and gardens, Ponto Moniz. We tried to keep away from the very touristic crowded places like Funchal, Curral das Freiras etc...
Very friendly and helpful host. Love to were here! Good barbeque place outdoor and we got many fruits and vegetables from host. They help we to went to supermarket and with our walking trails.
The view for the ocean is amazing, it’s a very private place, very calm and clean. Hosts are very helpful and nice. Highly recommended!
The villa was beautiful, cozy and very clean! Sandra was extremely helpful and made sure we had a 5* experience.
Everything was perfect, thanks!
