Small little harbour front town Variety of small restaurants Highly recommend Celebrantes, do not recommend Aquarium! Beautiful views but not a town for families. Canical may not be for everyone; it's a small, quiet fishing...
Canical may not be for everyone; it's a small, quiet fishing town with an industrial port and rocky beach. The whale museum is excellent and you can walk there from the apartment (we've been before, so not sure it was open this time so do check). The reason we went to stay in Canical was to walk to ponta Sao lorenco which is a short bus journey away. It's a stunning, dramatic walk along the peninsula you see when you land on Madeira. Canical beach would be improved by having wooden pallets to lie on all year round.
