Located in Castelo Branco, 35 km from Geopark Naturtejo, Hotel Campo do Rosmaninho provides accommodation with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a fitness centre and a garden. We had a beautiful huge twin room with a sliding door to the patio. The beds were so comfortable and the bathroom was very luxurious. We appreciated the mini fridge and espresso maker, the delicious cookies and the handwritten welcome note. So much attention to detail. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome - our dog too. The dinner was excellent, as was the lunch which was amazing value - 3 courses plus a glass of wine for €12.50. The hotel was quiet which we loved, but I expect it will be much busier during the warmer months with the huge pool and paddle tennis court a big draw.

Hotel Meliá Castelo Branco is located on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of Castelo Branco. It features a health club with an indoor pool, sauna and Turkish bath. We come back to this hotel again and again. We love the hilltop location which provides stupendous views in all directions, the welcoming and friendly staff, the indoor pool with sauna and turkish bath (although the latter were not available this time because of the pandemic). We were pleased to see this time that some redecoration and general "freshening up" of rooms and public paces had been done since our last visit. The breakfast was excellent too, and it's lovely to eat breakfast with this panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.

It was very noisy caused by other guests the radio was constantly on in the bedroom even though you could not switch it off I had to go down to reception and get them to turn it off from their office also I only noticed after I left and got to my next hotel that pot of face cream I use which was a brand-new pot and hardly used and still full was empty obviously they had stolen the contents and replaced it with something else which didn’t smell nothing like what was in the pot of cream before I am absolutely disgusted If I’d known they were going to steal from me like that I certainly would have not left the money as a tip on the side and also I would most definitely lock my stuff up everything other than that the food was delicious and the staff were excellent even understanding my English
Loved the city full of historic sites and stunning fountains. A fountain- pool with cristal clean water in the centeral park, where kids were splashing, impressed me. At night there was a free movie theatre below the stars, full of families with children. The city at night is stunning, with all the lights featuring historic objects. The Bishop's Palace with its inumerous fountains and pools, the Castle on the top of the mountain with a strong hidrotechnical construction, still functioning since the 15th century (if I'm not mistaken), was impressive. A night walk around the old town is definitely worth visiting Castelo Branco!
It has great historical gardens + what is left of a castle to visit. The Episcopal garden needs to be attended more often so it justifies the 2€ entry and the surrounding areas like a 'possible tea house' + other gates are closed including the museum in loco. These things made me sad. The pamphlet mentioned the reason why the kings and the saints were put there in statues but would be great to have more history, to dig deeper into our ancestry and tell a story to be more magical. The down bit of this very short visit is that it was in pure hot summer day and it is very tough to hold the sweat over there. Nonetheless, you have a beautiful garden just in front of the Episcopal where you can see under the tree, go to the nearby cafe and watch the water fountains as well as buy a refreshing drink. The city is very ancient by the looks of the house buildings. Didn't have much time to visit more places to tell more about this location. Maybe next time or someone else will continue to do this review. :)
Castello Branco is probably the most beautiful and cleanest cities in my visit. Going to the Castle was quite a trek but well worth the effort. Will come back early next year to live out my life here.
The town is a great place with lots to do and see and central to a lot of areas. I was in Portugal buying a property so this area had everything I needed to have. At 135 miles from Lisbon Airport, it was a gentle drive but very easy on the Toll Roads (A1 - North\A23). Nice area and visually very clean and tidy.
Very nice area. In march, we stayed outside in a park for 2 hours, in the sun, it was like july. The people are 90% of the time extremely welcoming. Prices are low, food is excellent (too much !) You will not regret this jewel, far from classic touristic areas.
Castelo Branco
The breakfast must be hot and there should be dinner facilities or in the night there should be any snacks that we can buy in the night because the shops are a little bit far from the hotel.we reached at the hotel around 19:40 and it was almost 20:00 when we checkedin and we were hungry so if there was some food that we can buy then we don't need to go outside and the weather was extremlly cold so that's my opinion.the licationit was perfect
Castelo Branco
I was so fortunate to have booked this hotel. The restored stone Quinta buildings, the fabulous restaurant on premises all in a setting which was insanely zen… the only sounds were bird song and the rain. No urban noise.. none. I wish I had brought my wellies for a walk through the orchards.
The hotel is very central and we made it base camp to visit Monsanto and other attractions, breakfast was a buffet and abundant. We ate at the hotel one night and food was typical Portuguese and good value for the money.
The hotel room was better than expected and looks better than in the pictures. We also appreciated a lot the renovated bathroom. The room is smaller but enough for two people without a problem.
