The views were to die for (you could stand off the edge of the white castle) Clean and welcoming Prices could be cheaper Feels safer than home Classic cars galore Needs more gyms and shops within walking distance More halal / vegetarian food
I wouldnt label this a tourist area at all especially for the time of year I visited, unsure of summer time. Cuisine dated and lacking fine dining completely. Portuguese food has no flare and if you enjoy eating dinner before 7pm you will struggle to find an open restaurant. I do reccomend Telheiro Do Albilio & Sra De Mercoles.. which is near the big shopping mall (terminal) EXCELLENT food and good price for the quality. One waiter speaks english so can help with the poruguese written menu. Castelo Branco as a whole, its ok, needs modernising and updating. More business’s would be good as it is a limited area. Worth visiting but not for longer than 3-5 days as you will be bored. You can walk around the area but I opted to drive as it is very easy to get lost just after one wrong turn. They have Lidl which is well priced and good quality.
Nice clean city very friendly. Great for sightseeing. Points of interest would be the gardens Paço Episcopal and different museums. Good restaurants but my favourite was Cabra Preta Restaurant if you have a chance to go. Staff is very friendly and food was great also decor is nice. Also stop at the Boutique do presunto to buy local cheeses and prosciutto and other local products, ladies are also very friendly will explain products and will offer little samples.
Loved the old town, plenty of places to eat and drink, great to be near the railway station, lovely trip on train to Abrantes. Loved Restaurant Pinguin great food and fabulous service, excellent value for money.
I have purchased a house in juncal do campo, 10 mins outside of castelo branco. Fell in love with the area on my first visit. Friendly people, little restaurants and lots of history and nature, also good public amenities.
Very safe feeling place. Interesting gardens and castle. Good tourist information centre with lots of information about the area. Interesting mix of old and new. Nice waffle cafe near the esplanade quest house with great hot chocolate.

The place is very clean and tidy. Sanitary facilities were okay. It is relatively quiet, though that might also be because Castelo Branco is not a major tourist town. Although not in the center of town, everything is within walking distance. The staff were really helpful, and they were happy to help you out or recommend places to go to in the area.
