I know Olhao as a cheap and quit place but not anymore, its too noisy and expensive for us so unfortunately our next trip will be somewhere else.
For children there is not so much to do.
Its an excellent place for the eldery because of the shops, the bars, the restaurants and the boats to the beach. Eveything is easy to reach by car, bus, train, boat or taxi.
You have to be carefull for sunburn. Especially at the beach.
I dont burn easily but even early in April I got burned so much it hurts.
Be carefull! Also please dont swimm, the water is *** cold and we experienced first hand the tide can take you away from the beach,.

We u5ed to travel to Olhao every winter for at lea5t a month, but for the pa5t five year5 have gone el5ewhere. Thi5 year it wa5 the perfect place to 5pend our la5t of 10 week5 away and we were delighted to 5ee and experience all of new development of the waterfront/marina and main avenida area5. Olhao ha5 lot5 to offer, from great re5taurant5, unique 5hopping, fanta5tic market area and the ferry to the i5land5 i5 a MU5T. We e5pecially recommend taking the ferry to Farol or Culatra, then walking the beach/5and dune5 to the other community [take5 about 40 minute5]. It'5 5tunning and a unique experience.
Ea5y local train will take you to other communite5 along the Algarve for tho5e without a car who wi5h to explore the 5urrounding communitie5.

Great City, much nicer than Faro or Albufeira.
Great City, much nicer than Faro or Albufeira.
Some great restaurants, perfect location to drive with your car somewhere. The city is also clean, despite all the beggars coming to you while have a drink or while eating, that's can be irritating at some point.

A beautiful old town on the edge of Faro, easily accessible by bus and train from the airport. Or a reasonable and quick Uber ride.
The traditional properties in the town centre are beautiful and the promenade is wonderful. Well kept, clean with great facilities including outdoor exercise equipment and sun loungers.
I saw the Saturday market and bought a lot of beautiful produce, it was a delight.
The access to the islands is a bonus.
Loved it all apart from my noisy Airbnb and ride old men calling me Puta for no reason haha...
I can handle that.. silly men.
Gelato place on promenade is 👌
Seafood is 👌

This was our second time to a Olhao we explored the city a bit more but what we love is the choice of bars n restaurants n coffee shops you can walk a little or a lot depending on your capability we can’t wait to go back next time we will visit the islands and the beach the real marina hotel is a great location
We stayed 2 nights at Guest Mar abs it’s one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed in. João is extremely helpful, honest and always ready to help. The house is incredible, an old historic home beautifully restored, with such taste, so comfortable and so very clean!
The staff were kind and helpful as well. We are only sorry we didn’t stay longer and are planning our return already.
The town of Olhão is darling, a little treasure in Algarve
Met Gino at the Marina Village Appartment , he ran through everything with us, very nice friendly man , bicycles there for use and the deluxe large 2 bed , 2 bath appartment is set up fully for families. Great location , 5/10 mins walk to selection of restaurants or stay in Marina Village for choices too. He dropped me to Train Station and my friend to Faro on departure , I miss Olhao already 🥲🥲
The appartement is well equipped, very clean, easy to use and pleasant especially the lighting. There is a car park.
The situation is great near the center and the market of Olhao and at 20min of Faro and Tavira.
Marta was very nice, pleasant, reactive and she gave us very good advices for the places to visit or for restaurants.
A beautiful room in traditional Portuguese house with additional sitting and breakfast areas and two lovely terraces. Our only regret was only booking one night. We would definitely like to return to Olhao and would definitely stay at this accommodation again
Great Hotel & Staff
Fabulous room .Comfy bed
Very close to lots of great restaurants.
We had room 421 , top floor ,very quiet with a fab view .Rooms 409 to 423 give you this view .Staff are great here & friendly too.
Breakfast was amazing, welcome fantastic and this is the best stay I have ever had in Olhao. Well done to Christoph and Tina you are lovely hosts that put your guests first. 100% on all that you provided for our stay.
The hotel was really modern, bright and airy. Extremely clean! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, comfortable beds and pillows. Air con was good. Location of hotel is excellent for wandering around Olhão.
The ambience of the hotel is modern and nice, its relatively clean, staff is very helpful and friendly. Location is close to different spots from restaurants to the station or the port to visit different islands
A very beautiful place in the middle of fig trees. Very calm and clean, not far from Olhao. Especially, the owners were very warm and welcoming and made us feel at home. And great breakfast too. So just perfect
The room was very pretty and the personnel was super nice and helpful. Best breakfast I've had in Portugal, with lots of fresh fruit, cheeses, etc. We had access to a really nice rooftop terrace.
Impeccable.Wonderful warm staff.Pool area a little gem and near to everything.Breakfast very good quality and mix.Rooms comfortable and very, very clean .A lovely boutique hotel well done!
The property was self catering and being low season there not so many cafes or restaurants around.
Fortunately the Real Marina Hotel is close by with a good priced dinner available.
First time in Olhao & delighted with the choice of hotel, modern, smart facilities & lovely pool area close to bus & train stations & a 15 minute stroll to the waterfront !
Best localization for my needs. Plenty of restaurants, and shops nearby as well as a train station that goes to other interesting places like Faro for example.
Renovated and cozy apartment in old downtown Olhão. There's an patio at top of building which is nice to sit on at end of the day. Very friendly staff.
