Peso de Regua was ok but it seemed like a place of missed opportunities. So many places where there could have been really lovely restaurants and bars overlooking the river. All great! Super views and close to downtown and boat launch area. A good location to take a day boat cruise on the Duoro, we took one that provided lunch and it was excellent. Also we took side trips to see Vila Real, the Coa Valley prehistoric art, Braganca up in mountains. All were exceptional. Loved the destination right in the heart of the Douro. Easy to travel from Regua to other areas. Scenery spectacular. Tourist office left a bit to be desired not very helpful. Better response from cruise ticketing office staff. Would thoroughly recommend taking the day cruise from Regua to Porto stunning trip, great lunch on board and fun. Stunning composite of rural Portugal. I highly recommend a drive through the surrounding countryside. If you choose to drive your own vehicle, the roads are NOT for the faint of heart. They are Narrow, windy, hilly, and have substantial dropoffs over the very hilly and mountainous terrain. That being said, the views are spectacular, and there are many hidden viewing points, which can be found via google, etc. Note attached photos. Easily worth the "bang for the buck" if traveling from Lisbon, etc. The roads to Peso da Regua are mostly four lane divided highways, and allow an easy trip to and from.Guest review byTodd FUnited States

Hotel has a bar area but we frequented the bar/cafe a couple of steps away. Short walk (15 mins) into the centre of Regua where you'll find plenty of restaurants in the vicinty of the museum. Pool access is across the carpark-the hotel provide you with a chitty to gain entry and you need a new one every day. Breakfast was good. It is a small windy drive from Peso da Régua, but our drive from there down towards Pinhão had some of the most stunning scenery on our trip.
